Most overrated moment in 2015 cycling

I'll kick it off.
Dumolin's 6th place in a distinctly average field, where most top two tier riders worth beating were knackered from the Tour and/or thrown off.
And I'm a fan.
But come on.
This pips Stannard's Omloop victory.

The Giro. Love the event but the 'big 4' can trounce the field making it more circus than sport....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

Chris Froome's power data. A huge yawn on the goat scale"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Barely registers as a 'moment' does it?
At least, unless you're an internet twitter person.0 -
Some good diversity of choices already.
Although, you might have to justify this one a little more.Cal_Stewart wrote:Sagan's WC0 -

He's got a knack for keeping people talking about him, the Travolta/Newton John skit as a 'HNY' the latest.0 -
Sagan WC win for me was more down to Stybars tactical mind than his. I would believe the Czech and Slovakian teams would work together. It was Stybars attack on Libby hill that started things. Sagan is a fine bike rider I just don't think he's very race smarteating parmos since 1981

I think it's because he's such a character. Can you imagine Costa doing a Grease megamix when he was WC? :-)0

I don't think its so much him being bad tactically as others not wanting to ride with him as chances are he will out sprint them. He won lots more races a few years ago when riders were less aware of what he is capable of. The better you get the harder it is to win0 -

He is consistently good, if he doesn't finish 2nd then he will be top 4 or 5 in pretty much everything except summits. No other rider can compare with that, not even Valverde or someone like Cav.0

This is the reason he is paid to much, he is always there putting the sponsor On the podium. I just don't think he's at that see you later ride away from everyone level, he's just as strong as everyone else but has a top level sprint.eating parmos since 1981

Benoot has his last year of uni this year so his big season may be a little delayed.

Geraint Thomas' GC potential is wildly overrated based on an unbelievable ride with the 'big 4' on stage 12 this year. It's true that without Thomas, Froome (“but I definitely think G is capable of [placing second].") may have lost back some time to Quintana in the early mountain stages. (In a team containing Porte, Roche, Poels & Konig a rational world would view this as more dross from Kerrison rep). But he paid for the heroics, finishing +31', noticeably nowhere at the pointy end of the race.
Love watching the guy ride, but it's such a shame that a legitimate monument threat (sensibly) chased the coverage and acclaim of firstly an Olympic medal and now, apparently, top 10 in the Tour....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

Think that's a little harsh.
Firstly, I don't think his potential to win a monument is particularly damaged by his stage race riding - given that he animated MSR, was influential in Flanders, won Harelbeke and took a podium in Gent-Wevelgem in hurricane conditions.
Secondly, he buried himself for Froome, which was his job, and his jour sans only came on stage 19. Sky clearly used him hard while keeping Poels fresh for the tail end of the tour. I thought he held on magnificently, given he was riding for someone else. With a suitable parcours and a team riding for him, I think he'd be a legitimate threat for GC.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

I can see both sides; he obviously has talent enough to do both at different ends of the season. However I do think he made a mistake racing the Vuelta when he could've been a threat at the Worlds. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0
