Help!!
Got a nice shiny new Kickr Snap with a major annoyance!!
Using BKool and Velorides, the resistance seems to vary with a mind of its own on climbs. It will suddenly tighten up to the point where im putting out 500 watts by kicking the pedals over, tyre slipping, then loosen up before pulling a similar stunt again. It seems mainly to occur on steeper (4% )ish climbs, and seems happy on flat / descents. Dropping my weight to 25 Kg on Velorides seems to make it a little less unpleasant, but its definitley not "right"
Ive done spindowns, updated the firmware, and it is set in "sim" mode according to Wahoo Fitness
What am I missing?

Hi, I had the exact same thing but only used TrainerRoad so no experience of both websites you've mentioned.

It wouldn't work at all if I used a power meter to control it's power through TR and on it's own the power was way down from what it should be.
It took the Snap around 45 seconds to alter it's resistance with power transitions.

I did various spindown combinations, two full twists of the locking knob but nothing changed. There's an advanced spindown feature available on the iOS app but not Android which is supposed to improve things.

I sent mine back as it just wouldn't work. Beautifully built machine but doesn't work.

Bought a Kickr instead, which works and does everything like it should.
  • Sounds like you might have had a faulty unit? Mine has been working fine with TR.

Had a Snap since early January & been using it with Zwift faultlessly.
Tried Bkool for first time tonight and had to abort a climb because of the same issue.
As the Snap has been working faultlessly with Zwift, is this a compatability issue between Bkool and Wahoo on climbs - all was fine in the Velodrome.

I have a Snap as well, what I find on the climbs, when the resistance kicks in my power stays the same, even though i am obviously putting more power down and everyone seems to pass me, am i missing something?
  • The power output of the Kickr Snap is way off (when compared to a power meter). At low power levels it's a little bit off and often below what it should be however once you go past about 190 watts it gets further and further off. An indicated power on the Snap of 300 watts using Trainerroad or the Fitness app is virtually impossible to pedal as you have to throw out something like 450 - 500 watts to turn the pedals. Suggest anyone having issues as I am to complain to Wahoo via a support ticket. If you don't have a power meter and have a fairly modest FTP of say 200 then you're probably finding the Snap works pretty well. On the other hand if you have a higher FTP of 306 like me then using the Snap in ERG mode is impossible. I'm on my second Snap after exchanging the first because the power was way off on that as well. The replacement is only marginally better.

The Wahoo Fitness app now has the Advanced Spindown function by the way.
