The paxingtons scare easily, but they'll be back, and in greater numbers....0 -
A slight aside but AFAIK the Sale of Goods Act was updated in October giving more power to the consumer over the retailer. Basically as a consumer you now have 30 days to either demand exchange or refund if you have bought goods that are not as described etc. Unfortunately legislation designed to protect reasonable consumers from unscrupulous traders often only emboldens the unreasonable tosspot customers.

I'm not sure how this is an unreasonable post. If I bought a new bike from a shop and it had odd spacers and chipped paint I'd expect it sorted. You shouldn't have to go home and find a spacer yourself and budge it with nail varnish. This is a pretty damning review of genesis and "Sarah" I'd say.
People talk about supporting local shops, but a lot of local shops are manned but ill informed staff. Thankfully my local shop it's excellent"Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0 -
So you go and buy a brand new car and it is delivered with a chip on the paintwork the gears dont mesh correctly and you think thats ok ?
Me thinks , not so .
Not sure i agree, the op may as well of bought 2nd hand.0 -

You do know it probably wasn't a true story, right?
One almost has to admire paxington's dedication to being obnoxious though. It's also interesting to see how he tries to change his usual full-of-himself style of writing each time.0 -
We should all support Sarah at this difficult time...0

Ooooh - this sounds intriguing - is there a story behind it? Pray tell, on today of all days ...........Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Also reading the post it seems that the OP's first language is not English, which might be creating additional communication issues.
Subtle.
Plus his user name .. but given how well written the post is, I don't think language was an issue.
Look, I'm a bit 50/50 on this one. You buy new from an LBS and you have every right to expect perfect. If it's not you can rightly reject but that means waiting for a replacement. I'd be happy for a spacer and a paint touch in but if the staff member got arsy, I admit that my mood could escalate and I could take a less tolerant view because of it.
Truth is, we don't and won't know all of the facts. The OP could be a Dr with impeccable diction, whilst Sarah may not have English as her first language. We just don't know.
Sounds like the Manager is in the right job though, and I've no doubt the vast majority of us reading this thread will be just as likely to use Bike UK should the occasion arise.0 -
So the OP's Paxington and so am I ?...Has it every occurred too you that when everyone's paxington, maybe paxington is just a little bit more on your mind than he should be. Seriously dude get out more, though I guess if you did you'd end up seeing him in the street .. You my friend are weird beyond words.0

We all know who you are paxington, as you stick out like a sore thumb; from your pushing of Superstar Components products, trolling of certain users, use of pretentious language and generally obnoxious personality. Create as many profiles as you like, but you'll eventually revert back to type.0

Who is Paxington?
Who are Superstar components?
Anyone?Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Where have you been???
paxington is a person who is supposed to be banned for being a complete tool amongst other things, including having an irrational support of anything to do with Superstar Components (who make and distribute bike bits), personal insults and very deliberate, dodgy comments. He has a habit of making up new profiles to get around his bans, with the OP of this thread being yet another one.
Just do a search.0 -
Quite a stir.
Thanks for the sarcasm. Some better than others managed to take a smile from me.
I have bought bikes before, I had received them with scratches which did not pose any issue. With this one it was a bit odd that blunder after blunder happened. And it did raise some questions about their professionalism.
I do not have any issue with mistakes, but when they are treated as the customers have some unreasonable issues it does feel very unpleasant.
But anyway in the end it solved pretty reasonably.
Good rides and best buying experiences from me.0
