Van Avermaet who will blow an hour lead and come second.
Regarding living the 45 hour weekly dream, get out. I did after 20 years in advertising, and whilst it has been extremely tough starting a couple of businesses with no funds, two lots of child maintenance and a hefty enough mortgage on my own, it's worth it.
We did try, but trying to emigrate and start doing something totally different, at the same time as the credit crunch to one of the worst affected countries, didn't end well. We came back in debt up to our eyeballs, which led to a return to the 45 hour fluorescent-lit dream
It was an experience. Wouldn't have missed it for the world
BTW congratulations on how things have gone for you, I'd love to have the balls to try again, and really admire people setting up on their own and working hard to make it a success 8)It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -

my prediction for 2016: the season will be long ....... it's only January 1st and Team Sky has already transformed Kwiato in emaciated scarecrow, according Twitter
That picture was taken immediately after the season ended, according to Ian Boswell.0 -

I think he will still pick up a few decent wins, but majority of his wins left in his career will be in 'shitty little race'0 -
Froome falls off/sick again and doesn't ride the Tour. Despite his team not winning a GT stage all season (again), Sir Dave's reputation mutates aggressively. In his spare time he (narrowly) saves Chelsea from relegation and is appointed to lead the probe into how deep the Coe network penetrated the British elite.
He's relentless and needs sorting before the monarch's health becomes an issue....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -
After watching Cavendish ride at Revolution yesterday, he is not going to Rio. Couldn't hold a wheel in the time trial, eliminated in the devil take the hind most madison, but kept riding to take the win. Surely no bending the rules to please the crowd? Only one brief flash of the Cav of old all night; certainly not the Cav 'on fire' the commentators were talking about. (Laura Trott and the Wiggins boys were outstanding, and will certainly be in the hunt for medals, Viviani too).Still a handy rider with one of the best race heads, would make a superb lead out man for a young gun.0

Yeah. Last night wasn't a promising sign for Cav's chances. The GB vs Team Wiggo 2km was set up by Heiko as a test, and Team Wiggo with Burke, Tennant, Doull & Dibben clocked a PB over that distance. Great signs for how those guys are rising up at just the right time in response to Heiko's training plans (and still minus Clancy - tho he's already back training on the roads post-op) - but Cav getting dropped twice ain't good for him.
A bit of an update. On Sat night both teams - Team Wiggins, and Cav & the Academy lads riding as Team GB - were ahead of the Mens TP WR after 1km. Cav has never ridden a TP at such high speed before.
Whatever happens with Cav making Rio, that gold medal is definitely ON (and this is without Clancy)0 -

I think that too. Got rid of Cav from the second year of his contract after his underperformance last year in my fantasy team, swapped him for Gougeard, Taaramae and Julien Bernard as I think they'll score more CQ points.
Quite pleased with my team this year given there are 22 of us in the league and it is an auction so only one DS can have a particular rider.0 -
Vanmarcke and Sagan will win a monument.
A relative unknown will also grab one of the first four monuments.
Degenkolb will be banging his handlebars and only win smaller races.
Cancellera will be there or thereabouts, but will be "unlucky" and come up short. Some podiums.
Cav won't win the most races as the battle of young and old takes place - he will still win some though.
Valaverde will win various races all season. The BR forum will hate him for it.
Joaquim Rodriguez and Boonen - who? We will say at the end of the season?
Froome won't retain the tour.0 -
Sagan will finally win a monument, having learned how to hide now
We'll finally get a wet Paris Roubaix
A changing of the guard in the classics sees neither Boonen nor Cancellara top 5 any WT cobbled races
I'll get a bit bored of the giro after the first week
Quintana will win the tour0 -
sagan does look better for a monument but hiding in the jersey may be hard still"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0

True - I meant hiding as in not riding off the front at the first opportunity like in San Remo or any other race with a descent near the finish0
-
His main problem with Flanders is he hates the Oude Kwaremont.
If he can get over that better he's golden.0 -

Some good & bad news for Tony Martin there. Apparently, breaking with tradition, he is going to have a go at the cobbles this year.0 -
I predict I won't get the job of Director of the Centrum Ronde Van Vlaanderen I just applied for."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I figured I'd never see it advertised again and despite my rudimentary Dutch skills, my complete absence of managerial experience, my lack of connections in Flemish government and cycling I thought I should give it a go.
If you see me interviewed on Sporza as the race passes by the museum in April you'll know that, as with all my other predictions, I was wrong."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

If you do interview, can you get to the bottom of why, in a fairly patriotic part of the world with a whole host of local winners, that the only rider who has his own room dedicated to him is the Swiss Cancellara??0 -
