    Lorries are the biggest.

What makes you think so? Please explain.

for london they are 50% of the deaths, have been as far back as i've bothered to check.

for the uk as a whole it's cars.

I rarely even on my jaunts into central London have much problems with buses, normally U turning taxies, agressive mini cabs and the occasional poor cycling, normally either drafting/halfwheeling/boxing in etc.

I think woosh and woosh sums that up!
    :lol::lol::lol::lol:
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

  • Surely the biggest menace is idiots. Whether they're in Lorries, cars, buses or on foot or bike. I've seen courteous and safe as well as moronic and dangerous road use from all those categories.
Of course an idiot in a lorry can cause a lot more damage than an idiot pedestrian but the actual menace will always be the person in control of the lorry, bus bike etc rather than the vehicle itself.

Yeah I find being alive is f@cking dangerous too to be honest. I mean, alive people are involved in every death ever.

Never hear about any accidents caused by dead people, nor about dead people being involved in accidents.

  • Don't live far enough north to encounter deer, though I wouldn't like to collide with one running across the road.
Pretty sure that you can find deer almost anywhere, I almost hit one in Sussex this year. Still waiting for a close encounter with a wild boar but it's bound to happen soon.
  • Cars.

My daily route means that cars can pass me with scant regard for safety.
Busses less so and lorries lesser still.
This is due to the road conditions, country road with lots of blind bends etc.
  • Dogs.

I was chased for a couple of hundred yards today by an Alsatian...
bloomin' terrifying. I think it'd escaped from a local farm!

German Shepherds can run at 25 kmph, you had nothing to fear with 45 kmph at your disposal.

For me it's cars, the local buses are all well driven and the lorry drivers seem pretty good, also as 19/20 vehicles that pass me are cars the law of averages stacks up.

With vehicles passing me at 60mph whatever hits me is going to hurt!

One is a fleet of modern well driven buses and the other is a bunch of dirty old scummers driven by shitlarks.

    People are the biggest menace.
  • Around here in "God's waiting room" its the octogenarians & nonogenerians that are still driving despite their failing eyesight, appalling reactions and limited spatial awareness...

You forgot Vans, they are the biggest problem, mostly driven by people that think they are in cars and try to fit through the same size gaps, usually in a rush to get to their next job.

Scaffold lorries are the worst driven lorries.

This. 100% this. It's pretty easy to understand why though - have you ever met any scaffolders? Calling them Knuckle-dragging troglodytes would be kind to Knuckle-dragging troglodytes. They are almost universally thick as pigsh1t and prone to extreme violence

My best mate owns a scaffolding business on the south coast....

they are the scariest bunch of humanoids I have ever met. Period. Most have done time, all are psychopathic nut-jobs, most are generally high on something 24/7. Take it from me - a Friday night in the pub is not a nice place to be with them around. My mate, their boss, would agree with this 100% by the way

+1 for buses as around me it's unusual for any to give you a reasonable amount of space, they pull away from the kerb without warning as you are passing. The latest thing seems to be to pull in then sit with their right hand indicator on as passengers get on board.

I terms of absolute numbers it would be cars as there are so many more of them but at least some are paying attention and some wait for clear traffic and move over to give you a decent amount of space.

I'd always heard that demolition crews were pretty...dodgy

It's just a hill. Get over it.
  • Anyone driving anything while texting. At the risk of being flamed on here I'll admit to also riding a motorcycle. When filtering in slow moving traffic, I'm alarmed at the growing number of people I see texting while behind the wheel. They miss the lights changing to green, they block junctions because they're not paying attention and - judging by the driving I see - I'll bet a lot of them carry on texting when the road clears. The most alarming stat I've seen recently was in a survey of attitudes to texting while driving. Getting on for half of 18-25 year-olds can't see anything wrong with it. I won't have to survive much longer before I'm too old for two wheels, powered or otherwise. If I get that far, I'll think I'm well out of it.

    Pedestrians.

Whilst they probably wont kill me, i've had too many close calls with them walking out in front of me.

In 5 years of London commuting I can probably count the number of close calls/issues i've had with road traffic on two hands. It's just not as bad as people make out, and that in my opinion, is part of the issue. It's perception of danger.

Using a phone is bad enough, but texting is MADNESS!
