just makes you wonder how much drug abuse there is in amateur cycling events. There will always be someone who want to win at any cost.
Any experiences ?

Having spoken to CTT drugs testing recently I found out they do test quite regularly. They check results and anything anomalous turn up for a surprise test.0

I've been smashed by people later found to be doping. Dan Staite, JTL, Marcel Six, Jason White to name few.
Plus some random dude offered me weed in Gran Canaria, does that count?I'm on Twitter! Follow @olake92 for updates on my racing, my team's performance and some generic tweets.0 -

not in cycling, to be honest I wouldn't know what to look for. Bodybuilding - friggen loads, but easy to spot the tells with BB. Big Muscles where its really hard to grow muscles, not actually lifting much or well, bloated stomach etc. Plus there is a culture that its not cheating.
I think in cycling its much harder to spot. But I've heard better cyclists than me say how people have had suspiciously massive gains.0 -

They don't really. I've seen them twice, only at national champ events.Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0 -

the emphasis should be in youth/junior, the BC system is all about getting on a dev program and there is huge pressure to do so and if you dont, BC coaching support stops, once you leave Youth.0 -

Well the impression I got wasn't that they were testing regularly at events, but scanning results for inconsistencies and turning up to test people at random events as a result.0 -

was Jason White actually that good even when doped?0 -
I went to my company doctor to get a certificate for the Marmotte a few years back. No medical examination, other than asking if I doped. I looked puzzled so he said performance enhancing drugs, unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to say "not for cycling".
Years ago I'd agreed to do a charity relay run, on the day of the run I had a cold and felt so bad I could hardly breath, let alone run. But not wanting to let the rest of the team down I took the best part of a whole packet of Day nurse, plus some Boot's own brand cold remedy and set off. I had so much pseudo-ephedrine in me I was shaking on the start line. Didn't do me any good, still ran like someone with a heavy cold.0 -

He can't have been that bad to top the rankings that year he did (though that was when midweek crits etc were still 30 points for win), and he still beat a fair few strong riders at Wally Gimber, but I suspect it was helping him arrive at the finish a fair bit more fresh, and it looked like he had a decent kick anyway.Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0 -

Similar to Justin Hoy then probably, good rider but would never be ranked to highly if raced prems and tour series instead of 'chipper crits'0 -
He doesn't call himself the 'chipper king' for nowt - very decent sprint still, mind!Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0
