Coolest car for £30k

Morning all.
I'm going shopping in the the near future for a new car.
Currently scratching head for the coolest car for £30k - needs to seat two adults and two sprogs and have five doors. And be utterly cool. And fast. And be utterly cool and fast.
Alfa? Abarth essesse?
Will be keeping the current cars for designated duties - this is a free car to me so no need for anything that needs a real purpose except to be cool and fast.
Any suggestions?
Grazie, ciao.

Think you've mistaken this for the top gear forum.0 -
Used Audi RS6 (2008-2009 model year for that price). Nothing better, takes all comers, works in all weathers, brutally fast and cavernous! Also has the uber-cool factor as it's not pretentious or a car for snobs.
Superb drivetrain, excellent disc brakes, good lights...0 -

Good call - many thanks - but same thing as I have already and too serious.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Agree they are brilliant - test drove one a few years ago before buying current family mobile - utterly brilliant to drive, but too big and serious for this purpose. Many thanks though.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

911, Lotus Evora..............
Was thinking 911 as its a 2+2 and I could fit The Hound or the Sprogs in the back but TDV is against it. Evora is too expensive and only a two seater - have a two seater already to back up the family mobile that is now going top the dog/shopping car.
Good calls though.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Very good stuff - I like your thinking. And Lotus may do me a serious discount as well.
I'm liking this more and more ....... Top bananas that manPostby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Had both kids in the back of a Lotus Evora for a spin a few years back. Can't remember how tall the boy was at the time, below 6' I'm pretty sure, and it was a hell of a squeeze. With young kids it would be fine.
Buy something old and silly. Jensen Interceptor? Ferrari 412? Won't lose any money and should increase in value.
Just had a quick Google, 412s have already gone up too much. Ferrari Mondial, not as cool as a 12 cylinder but within budget.0 -

Mondial - I've got a soft spot for them as it was the first Ferrari I ever went in and then a couple of years later the first one I ever drove0 -

Lancia Delta HF turbo intergrale, Evo2
Escort RS Cosworth
Sierra RS Cosworth
fast appreciating classics now.
all depends on your take on 'cool' and 'fast'

I have had a Abarth 500 essesse. It was characterful, but junk.
For 30k, you could do more wrong with this:

That said, I think the following:

You may joke but I did make a sideways pitch for a Skoda Yeti that was ignored.
Fast and fun- quirky, has to be a new model due to how it's being bought (otherwise would rush out and get an Integrale, 205 1.9 GTI or Renault 5 GT Turbo), slightly but not overly impractical - esseesse is as small as we can go. No to a Cooper or Cooper S as they are all driven round here by bankers wives and some bloke I know who's an utter bellend.
Currently have Merc convertible and Honda estate as hound/family mobile. Merc is funny hairdressers' car but fast and nice to drive, Honda is dull as dishwater but does the job perfectly.
Not really into big cars - Maserati would be lovely though but would have to check out prices. Think that Lotus may be too small following comments above, darn it.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Maserati quattroporte.
great call

If it has to be new what about a Golf R? My cousin got one and it's about 300bhp and 4 wheel drive as I recall.0 -
so does it need to be a brand new car or can a used one be bought?
if brand new, you are limited. if not, then there are a ton of half decent cars.
Porsche turbo
Bentley continental, Arnage
Jag XKR
BMW M3/M5
Merc E/C63 AMG
if new then an Audi S3, Golf R, new Focus RS etc etcMy winter bike is exactly the same as my summer bike,,, but dirty...0 -
I want the Alfa. Have it wrapped up and bought round to my house now.
No, no, no, no, no to the Defender. I have several for work, from "dropped out a plane" to "brand new civvies" and they are all shyyt. Sorry.
Was working with some guys who had G Wagens over the past few weeks - they do look cool with a 50cal out the back but don't think I'd get that through an MOT.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

ill check whether having a machine gun mounted in the rear of the car is an MOT fail, pretty sure it wont be tbh!My winter bike is exactly the same as my summer bike,,, but dirty...0

Has to be new/as good as new I believe. No classics unfortunately. I also pitched for a fully load Transporter but that was rejected.
Golf has already been rejected by TDV - was one of my first ideas. Beemer M3 has also been shot down.
Still liking the sound of the Maserati .............
No Audis. I'm not a middle manager in sales or high street banking.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

If you could that would be brilliant - thank you. Do you think the AK racks would also cause MOT tester palpitations?Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

so long as there are no sharp protrusions outside the car it'll be fine.My winter bike is exactly the same as my summer bike,,, but dirty...0 -

I think it got binned because a friend has just bought a 567bhp M6 and spent £1,000 on petrol on a trip to Italy.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am
