Here's the truth:
The new owners of the website, Immediate, have decided to do all moderating and admin duties inhouse. One day myself, Nick and others woke up and found that the majority of our secret powers had gone. We weren't told in advance - just got a message after it happened that a new team was coming in, and they wanted to throw themselves in the deep end to see what things were like.
But they kept asking us what to do still, and how things worked... we just couldn't do it for ourselves like we used to be able to, not even simple requests. Neither can they with what has happened to me it seems...
This was around six weeks ago. Some of the tech we asked for repeatedly has been implemented which takes the load down such, as better spam controls and catching rogue accounts, but this is actually a different team still. The actual admin 'on duty' has been very much reduced which is why reported stuff is taking days, even weeks to get sorted, even though there is less of it. Well, not less members making mistakes, but less overall.
We were asked for advice on how they should proceed. I suggested that the new team introduce themselves and make a friendly forum presence. As you can, that has not happened either. I feel it is important that admin and mods integrate and get to see the ebb and flow, chat with members and not appear as some above everyone else entity. Build up a a rapport and trust, well I have tried to do that in my time.
So things have changed, but not many know what is going on. Unfortunately I can't help anymore with most requests.0 -

Seems a strange way to run a forum of this size and the new owners are fortunate it's pretty quiet around here lately. It'll be interesting to see what happens should an issue arise that requires a step up in admin duty.

Is the reduction in modding commensurate with the lack of trouble? Just a rhetorical question.
It is only a matter of time that a series of issues running in parallel will test the new system and if any of them get too far without being nipped in the bud, it will reflect badly on the forum.

The place is so quiet now, way, way less traffic and posts than a just a couple of years ago. Lots have left due to tech issues.0
