Condor Fratello Disc Custom

I sold two bikes so I could build myself a nice steel disc bike that was good enough to ride all year round. It took a while to come together but I am really pleased with the result and the frame finish is excellent. Hope to have a long ride out at the weekend. May get some decent handbuilt wheels in the spring if I feel it is needed and if Ugo comes out of retirement!

Fantastic looking bike - and I agree about the colour. One quick question about the 3T bars you have on it, how do they compare with the Deda RHM 02 bars you had earlier?0

I never fitted the Deda bars but they are similar to Ergonovas in terms of reach, shape etc. I did not fit the Deda bars as the bars and stem finish were different and that would drive me mad!
The 3t stuff was in the sale so I thought I would go for it - the Dedas are still for sale0 -

Someone doesn't like your choice of tyres, what a philistine.0 -
To the op, how did you fit the hydraulics? Are the brakes already bled and just a case of bolting on (in which case how do you know the length will fit?) or do you cut the pipes to length and bleed the system?0

The slightly OTT strada bianca tyres were partly to avoid the bloody gatorskins!RIP commute...

glad the job is going well but surely you still have time to do what you really love0 -

To be fair, building wheels is fairly trivial... done ten you can do a thousand without facing any further significant challenge. I've always said it... anyone can do it, there is no special talent involved. I strongly believe building frames is exactly the same... once you've mastered the measurements/calculations and the tricks of the trade, it's just the same job over and over.... only there are more tricks to learn.left the forum March 20230 -
I really like that - would definitely get a disc one if I did it again... Wasn't out when I got mine.
Like the colour. Couldn't take the wait for the custom colours myself!0 -
I decided that I wanted something different and the custom paint was one way of getting that. It was not cheap but was worth the cost and wait in my opinion. The bike rides really well and is every bit as good as the carbon Cinelli it replaced. In case anyone is thinking of buying a Fratello or a "do it all bike" I would really recommend one of these. Condor are great and the guys in the shop and the finished product is first class. Though this is no lightweight it really does offer the best of all worlds and in my view is much nicer than a CX bike (unless you are a CX racer etc).
Have to say I also feel the new 105 is all the groupset most people will ever need and I would not want to go back to calipers as the hydraulic brakes are great. I also think the 3.2mm Lizard skins bar tape is amazing, really grippy and comfortable.
Thanks for all the nice comments too.0 -
Looks fantastic other than the angle of the shifters.
Still if it is comfortable, then good job!0 -

A nice frame, spoilt by a poor build unfortunately. I don't know why people seem to struggle with the little details.0

As long as you're happy.
Personally, if I was building up a lovely steel frameset, I wouldn't then bodge it together. I mean that cabling is shocking; it's resting on the forks crown FFS. They all need at least 5cm trimming off them.
Then there's the seatpost.....when have 3T ever made a good seatpost?
Never.
Setback post with the saddle pushed right the way forward????? WTF
The coloured stem spacers. Good god, are you a fourteen year old? And why so many of them? Its not a shopping bike. Although judging by the single bottle cage, the shops is probably as far as it gets ridden.
I could go on, but I've run out of internet.0 -
