Which Cyclocross Tyre for Winter Riding

I have a cyclocross bike (Ridley X-Fire Disc) which I use as a winter trainer. This autumn/winter I am thinking that I will probably end up on some simple dirt trails/rough paths as and when I fancy it.
I am not going to be going through the mud/mtb tracks or anything like that - rather just looking at unbroken paths/bridalways/canal paths alongside road riding on the same tyres. I am looking for a tyre recommendation which will be reasonable on the road but also allow me to go exploring from time to time when I fancy it.
Anyone got good experiences to share - would prefer to avoid any tyres which end up being very difficult to remove as cold fingers and struggling with a tyre after a puncture are not a good mix!!
thanks

I have been commuting on the clement xplor mso tyres with no issues for the last year. I have had two punctures over that time - one from glass and one was a thorn. Back tyre is worn a bit flat now so I shall probably replace it soon with the same again http://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/clement-xplor-mso-touring-tyre-p285361?gclid=CLSoluO6msgCFaoEwwodQS4ACQ website- http://clementcycling.com/xplor-mso
I am running the 32mm size but they also come in a 40mm if you have room. Reviews are good- http://www.gravelbike.com/?p=839 and http://www.blackmtncycles.com/2012/06/tale-of-two-tires-part-2.html0 -
