Assos et al: a breathable, race cut, water resistant jacket?

Bold contains (or used to) AP clay - played hell with regular pumps. I hate softeners and they definitely have an effect on "wetting" - I can always tell when a bath towel has been washed in a softener. See if you can get a third jacket and wash it in regular Daz or Ariel.
I know what you mean regarding towels. I'm now using Bold Non-bio for normal washing and the Halo Sports wash for my cycling gear0 -

I have just ordered a Mossa, be interested to see what it is like.
I knew I could rely on you!
I've also taken a punt on the Sturmprinz, purely for the fact I've been able to find it at half price and thereby as cheap as some of the other options.
That is a good price, can I ask from where - not that I would buy one, just being nosy.
Darn, the Parentini 2100 in black and yellow is now looking good :?Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

The P2100 is a good jacket0 -
Hardly a review, more of an advertorial.
We are getting dangerously close to free advertising again.0 -

I am assuming this is what is being referred to (2012 edition is the same as the latest addition?)

I have a Stürmprinz but last Winter wasnt able to find the right combination in any weather to stop me frm Boiling, even with just a base layer on it got too hot for me. Was toasty for less strenuous MTB rides in -10C, but anything on the road had me sweating too much.0

I haven't compared it to any top brands like Assos or Rapha, but a couple of seasons ago I picked up a Mavic Hydro H2O jacket for about £80 and it is everything I could want in a winter jacket.
I think it has been renamed the Cosmic Pro H2O now - it's white, with black taped seams and an offset zip.
Edit - it's actually the Cosmic Pro SO H2O now. The Cosmic Pro H2O is a different product.0 -

Not much help, but Assos have really lost their way of late when it comes to design. I used to love all their gear but now it all looks really really ugly. If looks are important, stay away from Assos.0

Indeed. Although, Bikeinn are living up to their reputation for slow delivery. The order was dispatched on the 3rd September, apparently arrived in Belgium on the 8th, and has not arrived anywhere since then. I emailed them for more information, and apparently it 'will be delivered this week'. I will be amazed if it is.0 -
I have a Habu and a Sturmprinz, the Habu is a very good warm but breathable softshell jacket for about 5c-12c temps but not water-resistant. The Sturmprinz is IMO for when you know it's going to be raining most/all of the ride, it's just a water resistant shell, has good breathability but then it should with the fabric panels, it's a bit too bulky to be packable to IMO hence I only wear it if I plan to keep it on all ride.0

Actually it seems I was exaggerating a bit, it was ave -3 this day according to Strava.

So I finally laid hands on the Mossa.
I went for a small, and the fit is pretty good - just about room for a base layer underneath if required - I'm 68kg, 37" chest.
I'm sure it is a fine garment, but I'm not sure it is quite for me, additionally the zip on mine was a fair way from being smooth, which put me off further.
Where as the Alpha Jersey (to me) feels like a quality garment, both in terms of cut (Though I appreciate that is specific to the individuals dimensions) and material, I didn't get that same feeling about the Mossa, which is a shame, as I really wanted to love it - the colour scheme I particularly like.
*I am not comparing an Alpha Jersey with the Mossa jacket on a like for like basis, purely in terms of my perception of the garments.
So not wanting to risk it, I have decided to send it back to Italy for a refund - think it will cost me around £10 with adequate insurance.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Galibier Mistral foul weather jacket fits the bill. Dont own one yet but plan to get one. Already own the Tourmalet jacket and its excellent - only needed a jersey and base layer to ride all winter.0

Interestingly or not, depending on your perspective, Assos are still making the Airjack 851 jacket and selling them via the outlet store. There is a whole new batch of black ones available in every size. Until recently, only odd sizes were available.
There must still be a market for them.0 -
used the Sturmprinz on a couple of occasions now. Rain protection is great and the breathability of the stretch fabric (feels like a very thin lycra) on the lower back, sides, and forearms are great... although I think I have to resign myself to the fact that someone who perspires as quickly, as easily, and in quantities as large as I do, no jacket should be worn above 6 degrees. It was fine this morning over a Rapha classic jersey and arm warmers (~10 degrees) for the first 5 minutes, but by about the 25 minute mark when I got to work, the jersey and warmers were soaked through.0
