tell me why i should justify £200 on a bike light? Are they really worth that much?
My opinion:
Very solidly built
Good design
No separate battery pack
Good battery life
3 output modes
Pulse mode is over a constant light
Easy to fit/remove each day
Solid mount
British company
I can just forget about it, it does what is says it will do..day in day out.
Agree with all that - but the price is still OTT. I get most of that from the Exposure Joystick which you can pick up from the Manufacturers for 79 quid
http://www.ultimatesportsengineering.com/exposure-lights/outlet-store
and can probably find much cheaper on the net.
If the strada was a little bit more than the joystick then I would have bought one - but it is well over twice the price. FTR - I cycle along pitchblack river-banks every night of the winter so I do use the light to see where I am going, not just to show drivers where I am.
It's substantially better than the Joystick. I use a Joystick on my helmet with a Red-eye if the weather is really bad just to give motorists that bid of extra visibility. In my opinion the Strada is easily worth the price difference, probably more.
The main point is the beam pattern which puts the light where you need (on the road) and doesn't waste any of the power it has.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

See what imatfaal said about the Joystick for £79.. I'm somewhat tempted.0 -

If you click on the British site, it seems unavailable though... I don't want to mess with imports and dutiesleft the forum March 20230 -
The Sirrius is designed to be used as a handlebar light, the joystick as a supplimentary helmet light for MTBing.
So the sirrius is more widespread and the joystick is more of a spot (though on the web comparison there appears to be very little difference)We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Are you using an anonymizer on your web browser or something that is confusing the (admittedly not very good) USE website ? Exposures are made in UK (well mine is) and the company is based in Pulborough; I have no trouble getting through to the "enter your details section"
Try Rutland - I got my second exposure there at just a whisker over 50 quid in a flash sale0 -

So basically I want the Sirius... which happens to be at the top end of my price rangeleft the forum March 20230 -
As for the quality of my Exposure TracerR rear light I'm not so sure. Arrived at work this morning and I can't turn it off :?0

Press and hold the button down for a second or two.
I did find the instructions useless. How the six settings (3 brighnesses X 2 modes, constant and pulsing) worked. Basically you set the brightness mode while it's turned off. Hold down the button and it flashes once… twice… three times. Let go of the button after it flashes the amount of times which corresponds to the brightness you want. Eg Full brightness is 1, so hold button down until it flashes once then let go. Then the two modes, pulsing or constant are set while the light is on just by pressing the button normally once to toggle between the two modes.0 -

Yep, that's how I've turned it off since I've had it (Feb 2015). Not responding today, still flashing away in my bag.0 -

I would take it out of the bag and put it somewhere cool. I had a lezyne which jammed on and by the time the batteries died it had got very warm indeed in my bag - buried to allow me to ignore the annoying flash. Mine was caused by water ingress - but I sent it back to Lezyne via the bike shop I had bought it at and got a new replacement0 -

Pretty sure mine isn't down to water ingress, I've ridden in the rain only a few times this year (luck) and I use full mudguards...and make sure the rubber seal is well seated/sealed after charging.
I'm sending it back to Wiggle, hoping for a refund and I'll get something else.0 -
Sorry, I thought you meant it, the light, a new one, arrived at work today, not you arriving at work. So you probably know how to set the modes.0

Shame, I find the Trace set brilliant but then most things are until they go wrong.
I just don't know any alternatives that kick out such a good pulse, USB charge and are so small. I've looked at Knogg but they are notorious for their straps and being lost on the road.
This is probably why I have a Hope District but even that has an Achilles heel in the cables/external battery.0 -
My Strada Mk5 had to be sent back too, bloody annoying as I bought it as the clocks changed for a dark commute then couldn't use it.
Anyway..my commute is rural, pitch black in winter and with crappy potholed road surfaces and some winding descents. This just about does the job when I know the roads well, I wouldn't trust it for riding at speed when you need to see up coming bends, the edge/middle of the road & potholes.
But it's a trade off, to suit unknown roads like that you need an MTB light and that would blind oncoming drivers.
The remote button to drop the beam is handy & one of the main reasons I bought it. I must confess that I don't use it every time as my hands aren't always in the right place but I use it as often as I can. Hopefully some drivers appreciate it.
I regret the choice only as it cost so much. I like the light, just not £200 worth of like!0 -
Evans are doing the Diablo Mk6 + TaceR for £132, notably cheaper than anywhere else and that's without the TraceR thrown in!
But will you be a PITA using the Diablo on the road even on the low settings (suspect yes..)? And will the run times be any good?

Just checked and it's back on the website?0

Strange it is back, still not convinced it'll be great on the road?! Money better spent on the cheaper Sirius I think.0

Depends what you want it for. For my purely urban / suburban commute a pair of TraceRs is fine. I don't need to light up the road. Just be seen. The batteries last 3-4 days and I can easily charge them at work.

It'll be great on the road - probably massively overkill though so you re unlikley to ever use it at full power.
But you re sort of getting a ferrari for the coast of a golf so...
Done... that's £15 cheaper then the ex-display units they are selling, will see what arrives!0 -
May as well report back.. have had a change in priorities and can't justify a Strada at the moment.

Bought one myself a few weeks back to replace an overpowered Magicshine head light. I run it on setting 3 with it in 36hr mode for the majority of the time. It lives under my Garmin mount in a Raceware Direct bracket.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

First ride out with my new Exposure Diablo and TraceR lights tonight. Bought to pair up with a bar mounted Toro mk5, and replace an old Joystick helmet light which became a little underpowered by comparison. Brilliant for the rural roads here in Wilts, and highest setting not required so run times seem fine for what I need.
