This gave me a good few chuckles and I agree with the majority of what he is saying.

If being a fan of him makes me a Holmo, then so be it.0

Very good.
Off to buy white bartape!0 -
Ha, I like it. Disagree with him on a few points though - hate long socks, and there was one other rider who carried off a pony-tail: Soren Lilholt. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0

I like my cycling cap
It keeps the rain off my glasses.0 -

I wear a cap most rides, if I'm descending something dangerous, riding in a group or where I feel conditions warrant it, i'll combine it with a helmet. I think both look darn fetching.
Clear glasses, I'd ban those."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I agree, clear glasses look terrible.0
-
Haha I deliberately bought grey socks to ride in the rain !
Matches my sliver/white shoes.
Oh dear.0 -

Yeah but let's face it. You just want to be Leif Hoste :P
And re clear glasses, I presume you have spent so much time idolising Ulrich that you've realised orange was the only way to go.

This thread needs that old pic of Frenchfighter, resplendent in grey socks and OPQS kit.Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over it.0

Don't like long socks, but then I've got little legs and rarely are they brown.
Short white socks, possibly with a small design.
Moser and Sarroni spelt the pinnacle of style IMO. I'm not quite there yet0 -

I fear I'm not good looking enough to be Lief Hoste.
And in the main, it's Ulrich's Nutella recipe I idolise"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Saronni was chubbier than Jan at his most derided.
Ullrich, 2003, Bianchi, Campag, early Lightweight wheels... Style icon, surely?0 -
I think House in the last few years has perfected the look. He attacks as well so win win.
Really wish he would master shaving however. It's not so much about winning, I just hate losing.0 -

Perhaps he shaves in the morning and the eleven O clock shadow comes in the afternoon.

Ah Ok, immediate disqualification from having an opinion on anything ever then."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

The cycling cap, the white socks and black shoes combo. It's a no from me.0

All I do is offer some "Facts" that I hope may make people think of another point of view. Nothing Personal.
Brian Holm used to ride on English roads as a regular in the World Cup @ Leeds, Brighton and Rochester classics and I don't remember him as a standout Stylish rider.Organiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720 -

Likewise, I wasn't sure what his doping past had to do with his opinion on socks and caps."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I think the answer is sweet FA0 -
The most stylish riders are those who just stay on the right side of tipping over into parody, they wear stuff that were most riders to wear it would look laughable (see most riders who go for full kom polka dots) but they manage to pull it off. Ulrich in that earlier pic, Cippolini much of the time etc.
House is wearing what I would call a safe choice, anyone can look OK in all black kit (not a fan of his black shoes though) but he doesn't exactly stand out does he. I know he is in team kit there but there is still scope to do something with his socks, cap, shoes combination - he needs to be more adventurous.
