I know a lot of you only care about the Tour and there is little British presence in this race (in fact only two British racers are my men Yates).

Attacks flew over the Arkale and Gilbert, Hesjedal, Arredondo, Landa, Caruso, Barguil and some others have just under a minute on the raging peloton,

Final loop now - cat 2 Bordako Tontorra to come before the blast into the city.

With great ill-fortune, the tv aircraft has had to do an emergency landing due to engine trouble which means there is currently no live pictures other than the finish line.

Yates is a heavyweight in the making and far from your typical Brit. He raced last year and was lighting up the race before he crashed out hard on the descent.

  • Ha, he didn't know it was the last lap, and so only celebrated after the finish
  • Was on his radio all the way up the finishing straight asking if it was the finish or not

Shame he didn't get to celebrate over the line but huge win for him. Once again those behind didn't try for the win because they were scared of dragging someone to the line and losing. Happens so often in this sport.

Funny finish with Adam Yates not sure if he had won! Great break and solo win for him though, crap effort from those behind.
    RIP commute...

  • Daniel Friebe
@friebos Adam Yates doing what's known as the 'reverse Pippo'. Phenomenal performance, anyway.

Almost started a spoiler thread a couple of hours ago but was struggling to work out what was going on even before the pictures went as the director kept randomly mixing highlights and live action. Finally gave up on any live pictures coming back and went to do some chores only to come back after the finish. Always a good race this one but seems to miss out on attention in the post Tour hangover. Before I gave have Brian Smith was saying Yates wouldn't win as the Tour had been so tough for him.

What's the betting we get more discussion of the women's race in London later let alone the London Surrey tomorrow?

Adam, the Yates brother Sky never wanted. Suck on it.

2nd in the 2013 Tour de l'Avenir 2013 behind Movistar's Fernandez, he built his career on the macadam of France rather than the elitist and scientific British Cycling.
