Post Rest Day
I will make an assumption that Froome had another set piece planned, like last Tuesday.
So which stage would be the most likely? Straight after rest day? Also wondering if Poels has been kept back a bit for Alps, doing the job he did in Dauphine?
Quintana looking good too and options with Valverde in the mix.

Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

I expect Geraint Thomas will enjoy the post rest day.0

What Twitter account does Michelle Froome use now? I had a Google earlier to see if I could find it, but no luck.0

Sky will spend part of tomorrow training in a heat chamber I gather.0

Expecting to see someone attack on the descent of the Col d'Allos on stage 17 after what Bardet did in the Dauphine. Possibly Valverde rather than Quintana though!0

I hope the other teams understand that they need to hit Froome repetitively and they need to hit him early. Annihilate his team so it is just him and G covering the attacks.
Battle for 2nd and 3rd will be interesting too. I hope TJ gets smoked and although part of me wants Valverde on the podium I really hope Contador can make it up there. I suspect Valverde will crack at some point.
Although we can see that Contador is riding at 75% compared to the others 100% he is bouncing around a lot better and still has the morale to attack.
Third week mountains will be very different to the second week as the fatigue should catch up with some riders who are not proven GT podium finishers.
I will be incredibly disappointed if at least one of the days they don't break properly break it up early in the stage.Contador is the Greatest0 -
I'm hoping that Movistar have deliberately ridden conservatively to save energy for the 1/3rd of the race when they expect Quintana to be strongest. Froome hasn't really been pressured yet and I'm not buying this idea that all the riders are shattered. Froome's mountain helpers should be plenty rested too, but I'd expect him to need more support than crash-magnet Thomas.
It's been very low-key on GC so far. That can't possibly continue....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

They did this on the pre-Soudet rest day.
Young RB reckons Ag2r had never heard of it.
Turns out it was a pretty big marginal gain."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

Quintana will try something, but he won't jeopardise second overall either. Which means it'll be cagey. Van Garderen will continue to ride cautiously, Valverde, Contador and Nibali are all too far back to really threaten Froome, so all Sky have to do, which is easier said than done, is control Quintana.0 -
Other teams can hit him early all they want, Froome has clearly shown he's only interested in Valverde and Quintana.0

Alpe d'Huez is a gimmick. The worst place to make a difference.
Often but not always, Sastre won the tour on Alpe d'Huez in 08.
Going solo from the bottom of the climb if I recall correctly.0 -
Valverde has 21s on Contador and needs 30s on TJ for a podium. This might be a better chance for a podium than last year. Movistar should probably align their strategy with that reality. If Alberto goes up the road, Valverde's going with him....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

My money is on Bertie attacking from the gun with Majka (and maybe Sagan) on Friday0

you must have an inside line to Alberto, being his no.1 Superfan - can't you have a word?0 -

Sagan strong enough to win on the stage over the Glandon?0

Rode up Lacets du Montvernier tonight. Big concrete barriers in the road to stop people driving up, but possible to ride around. Not sure if they were there from a couple of years ago (assuming Avenir), the Dauphine or they are new, but a nice little slogan was written on the road encouraging the Yates Bros - on every hairpin - no other writing on the road at all. Lets hope one of them can do it justice...

She started a new account the other day @michellefroome to have a go at some of the usual suspects (Antoine Vayer, Ross Tucker, Digger Forum) then closed it down again.0 -

I think he's got a win in him. Was thinking the Champs-Elysees might be his only hope, but the Glandon stage has breakaway potential

Suspect Contador has a sh1t or bust stage in him as had in 2011(?) when he blew the race apart on the Telegraphe. Niblai poss has the Pra Loup stage in his sights with that Allos descent and a large time gap to play with.M.Rushton0

Wonder if Dave has a humdinger of a motivational seminar lined-up for the press. An hour of MBA powerpoint and a promotional laserpointer should turn things around....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0
