Hey All,
Finally stepped onto a full suspension! Decided to go for a 2016 Stumpjumper as I've always fancied one and this years model has been revised geometry wise.
Spec:
Rear Shock: Custom FOX FLOAT Evolution CTD, AUTOSAG, Rx Trail Tune, 197x47.6mm

Bottom Bracket: SRAM, PF30, OS press-in bearings, sealed cartridge
Pedals: Nukeproof Electron Evo.
Cassette: SRAM PG-1030, 10-speed, 11-36t

Front Brake: Shimano Deore, hydraulic disc, resin pads
Rear Brake: Shimano Deore, hydraulic disc, resin pads
Rims: Roval 650b, alloy, 29mm inner width, 24/28h
Front Hub: Specialized, Hi Lo disc, sealed cartridge bearings, 15mm thru-axle, 24h
Rear Hub: Specialized, Hi Lo disc, 4x sealed cartridge bearings, 12mm thru-axle, 28h
Tyres: Butcher 2.3 at front, Purgatory 2.3 at rear.
This is the first time I've used Sram shifters and I'm pleasantly surprised! I've also got a Renthal N/W chainring to go on the front, but ant to get a few rides in before I decided to swap to 1x10.
The upgraded Hoodoo will probably be up for sale soon
I'll get more detailed pics tomorrow

I know!, I really wanted a glove box too
Sorry to disappoint, but it's just a no-name aluminium frame that I never built up. Bought it for £20 from Buy a Bike to eventually turn into a spare.
Only ridden it to work at the moment, but going to take it to some local woodland after to set suspension and get a feel for it.Stumpjumper FSR Comp 650B http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=13032340

Just a few extra up close shots of the components.
Took it for a quick spin after work today and need to get used to a full sus. My front wheel's spokes tend to ping where they cross. I've had a look online and people reckon they just need a drop of lube where they cross.

Just come back from a longer ride through some woodland trails and a few decent hills. My right crank bolt had worked loose, so tightened that when I got back.
Also, my wheels seem to be the flexiest things ever made. Front wheel spokes seem to ping and rub every time I put any pressure near them. The wheel is true and straight, but the spokes seems to be very flexy.
Anyone got any ideas about that? Thinking my first upgrade is going to be a Hope wheelset.Stumpjumper FSR Comp 650B http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=13032340

Specialized wheels are generally a bit crap. Sell them while they're still straight and get some Hope or DT Swiss wheels.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Cheers RockmonkeySC, my thought exactly. Shame really, when everything else seems good. I guess they had to compromise somewhere. Unfortunately, they will have to last a couple of months, then I'm thinking Hope Pro 2 Evo Tech Enduro

I'll have to get the kit to convert the rear to 142x12 (only around a tenner I think).Stumpjumper FSR Comp 650B http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=13032340

I have a 2011 Stumpy FSR still on the original wheels. Even after nearly 4 years the spokes still ping. I had to have the front wheel trued after I rode into a rabbit hole a couple of years ago but apart from that the wheels have stayed pretty straight.
I wouldn't splash out a wad of cash on new wheels unless you really need to.“Life has been unfaithful

Cheers for the feedback JBA. To be honest, it's on my list of potential upgrades and the pinging will drive me nuts
Think I'll use the money from the sale of my Hoodoo to fund them. Plans for a few more upgrades too.
Race Face Next or Six-C 35mm carbon bar (with stem).
Sram X9 Shifter (to replace X7).
I also have a Renthal N/W chainring spare, but I can't seem to get a spacer to replace the Taco Blade thing that the front mech is attached to.Stumpjumper FSR Comp 650B http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=13032340

I have those wheels. Not light but absolutely solid.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Good news on the solid bit. I think wooden discs would be an upgrade compared to the current ones.
I've caved and going to be ordering by the end of the week I reckon. Any other options available for around the same price? I just don't really know much about the different wheel choices. Need them to be fairly strong and reliable (maybe not too heavy).
I've looked at these too and they seem to be quite highly rated. Had Superstar AMX wheels on my old bike and they were great for the price.

Hi i have the 29er version and had to get front wheel re tensioned, seemingly 1st batch out where bad (so i was told) also check yer headset as well mine was creaking a tad but enough to annoy me too busy to back to shop again so opened it up and was bone dry so relubed with grease and perfect. Those rims go tubeless really easy mind and bike should have come with valves as rim strips already fitted.Giant tcr pro ultegra

Cheers for the feedback on yours Coblck. My headset seems pretty well greased and I've actually upgraded the wheels already (see pics below). I do have some valves and noticed they were tubeless ready. Going to sell them anyway

Hi if you contact specialized GB they'll send you 2 spacers out to replace the taco the front mech sits on. They should have came with yer bike but again first ones out the factory missed them (again told this by spesh). i just emailed them direct came next dayGiant tcr pro ultegra

Well,
Back to the drawing board regarding the spacers. This was Specialized's reply...
Hi John,
Thanks for your email, it’s always great to hear from riders.
Unfortunately, the spacers aren’t available separately. The 2x and 1x bikes don’t come with parts to convert to the other.
You can still run your bike as a 1x but you’ll need to leave the taco blade itself in situ.
Kind Regards,

After having a think about it, I've decided to go ahead and fit the Renthal N/W chain ring I had sitting here. Had to leave the Taco Blade as it is as Specialized won't supply me with the spacers to remove it.
I've gone for my standard 32t as it seems to cover most bases for how I ride.

Forgot to add this before I fitted the single ring. Did my first proper trails at Gisburn! I had an absolute blast too.
I've only ever really ridden local stuff, so once I had the roofrack sorted, we ventured up to Gisburn. Met a really nice couple who showed us how to get to all the trails (Hully Gully was huge fun). Did the Reds and a few of the Black bits too.
He had an e-bike too, which I had a go at. These things will be ace by the time I'm too knackered to do the climbs, proper fun to ride!
Future plans for the bike so far:
Race Face Six-C 35mm carbon bar (with stem)
Thinking either a new rear shock or get it Push tuned.
Upgrade the revelation to a Pike or maybe a DVO Diamond (find the Rev a bit flexy).
Can't really think of anything else I'd want to improve after that. Maybe I'll go 1x11 eventually too.Stumpjumper FSR Comp 650B http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=13032340

Little update.
Got some of Superstar's new Nano X pedals in Purple (to match my hubs). Love how big they are and are great for my Sasquatch feet.
Also got hold of some Bottomless Tokens. Bunged 3 in there and set sag at 25% to try at Gisburn tomorrow. Might need to adjust a bit, but we'll see.

Looks good, I've got a set of nano x to fit to my Trance this weekend, like the fact you get 2 different lengths of pins and a load of spares too.
Where'd you get the bottomless tokens for your revs from? Been looking but no availability previously (was a coule of months ago though)0 -
My local trail centres gisburn too mate, you couldnt let us know how you go on with your revs could you? Im currently trying to find a decent set up with my tokens. Running 3 also but with 20 %sag.0
-
I ordered to Bottomless Tokens from Amazon, but had to wait 3 months for them. They nearly didn't show up (got lost in the mail).
Been to Gisburn today, I think I could do with running a bit more pressure in them. Put 3 tokens in and set it up to about 25% sag. Might go for 20% and see how that goes next time as it felt a bit too soft. Pedals are really good. Managed to order them with the 25% off code too.Stumpjumper FSR Comp 650B http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=13032340

After Gisburn, it was time to service the lowers for the first time.
There was hardly any oil in from new and the foam rings were nearly dry. All super smooth now. Did my Wife's Rev too (bit more troublesome).
After pinch-flatting and my first puncture in over a year, I want to go tubeless next.
