According to ES - the last section of the stage has been modelled on the AGR...if youre still waiting to put abet on...

    Breakaway lead now 12'30"

I wonder how long it will last? 154 km to go with a couple of cat 4 climbs coming up in the next 35km. Then looks like it's rolling like a roller coaster to the end

If you look at the stage profile, I wonder why the hill they're on now ( 37 km in ) isn't a categorised climb? What's the discision process behind some hills having cats and others that look just as long / steep / high are not awarded a cat?
Whatever the race organiser wants. There's no rules, formula or logic. The higher hills in the firstbit have probably quite shallow gradients, but it's likely they didnt want too have too many categorised climbs in one stage to keep the polka dot jersey competition going

The finish climb has a 14% section in it, not one for the pure sprinters I think. Although, if the bunch hits the climb at full speed, 14% aint that bad... . And the final half km is flat. Difficult one to call. Even the GC guys may want to gain some seconds with a split in the bunch. Likely to be a disorganised sprint
I was in Le Havre in 1991 to see Thierry Marie solo in for a win of 10 mins (? or more ?) and remember seeing on the screen Robert Millar in a horendous crash some 20kms out.
The stage was Arras to Le Havre and Thierry achieved the longest solo break on record at that time.
OK, so I had time to look around the town (too many concrete buildings) and I found a Funiculaire tram to have a go on. This is a very steep climb to a place just above todays finish but the road is not so steep.
I PTP'd - Sagan but I think it might suit Purito.
It's going to be interesting. ?

Basically just how the organisers feel at the time. When it comes to stages like these they just categorise the number of climbs they feel is appropriate for this stage of the Tour and keep the KOM competition ticking over.

    PTP stats for today:

    67% fancy Sagan
    Degenkolb next up with 12%

Smattering of interest in EBH and Coquard.

I'd say the finish is too hard for the likes of Cav and Greipel but too easy for the likes of Valverde and J Rod.

Should suit Sagan, Degenkolb and Kristoff (if he was in form) perfectly. I would have had Matthews favourite if he wasn't injured.

We remember in the Tour of Flanders that "Tenbose" was never mentioned but it is now.

Yep, since Museeuw started using it as a launchpad

Also won't they want to spread the KOM points through the stage to keep the climber's teams working? (like they do with intermediate sprints)

“The team is motivated to fight for today's stage victory The finale suits me quite well. All day is really hard, it's always up and down and we're going to spend the whole day on the coast. It will make the whole stage very hard. The intermediate sprint is also quite hard today. It is uphill and about 2 kms long, not as steep as the final climb but the final climb is pretty short. I hope that I'll have good legs in the finale, that I can save energy during the stage and be there at the end.”

Degenkolb needs to wind his neck in and concentrate on the main task in hand which is to ensure that my man Barguil has plenty to eat and drink and doesn't feel a hint of breeze all day.

Apparently an Astana rider threw a half-full bidon to the road side yesterday and hit a 6 yo girl in the head causing a cut that required stitches.

With the time bonuses I guess there is a slight chance Sagan could take a win, the yellow jersey and the green jersey today.

The director cut away and then eurosport decided to have an advert so we missed the KOM point - Teklehaminot (potentially spelled wrongly) got it apparently.

Teklehaminot took the second KOM point as well.

Peloton moving relatively slowly I think (?).

In fairness to Kirby, the french appear to be discussing the relative comfort of deckchairs and musing about the view...

If anyone is interested, Tony Martin punctured about 10km ago but is back already as the peloton appear to be on a rest day today

    Frenchies commonly discussing road discs...

FYI - the Samsung/Domestique advert works much better in french too

    From the live feed:
Spanish national champion Alejandro Valverde had a crash but there's no worries in the camp of Movistar. Questioned by letour.com, directeur sportif José Luis Arrieta said: "He stop for a p*ss and slipped on the gravel when he went back on his bike but fortunately, there's no damage."

    Thanks for that.... :?

Apparently he was just wanting to make a stop to say hi to some people (according to Kirby - so might be entirely inaccurate).
