Has this ashes been really good or really bad?
You could look at the score being 2-1 after three tests and be thinking it's been a great series but for me so far, each game has been far too one sided for it to be considered a "classic" - still one and a half tests to go though before final judgement can be made0 -
I feel sorry for those with tickets for Sunday - it'll be over in three days this one again (If it lasts that long!)
Well I thought I had 4 days worth of tickets for this series, but unfortunately two were for day four Edgbaston and Trent Bridge so day 2 at Lords, and hopefully day 2 at The Oval looks like the limit of my Test Match watching this year.
Still could be worse, at least England are winning0 -

Apparently the Sun's headline today is 'Throw another wimp on the barbie.'0

The RSPCA in England have thanked Cricket Australia for their invaluable help in boosting the UK duck population0

Aus in again, sounds like Broad is right on it again - no wickets down at lunch but could we wrap it up today?? Aus 317 behind . . .Wilier Izoard XP0

Does no one else think England could still mess it up from here?www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0

At 183 behind with 6 wickets in hand it would be an awesome come back! . . . but we saw what happened yesterday . . .Wilier Izoard XP0 -
yeah, I think they should be ok now, when it was 100 odd for no wicket I was beginning to wonder!www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0

Just seen Michael Clarke's interview on tv. Very dignified, very complimentary of England, good cricket.0

I was camping in Cornwall last week so had very little access to following the 4th Test. However, I caught 5 minutes while ordering a drink in a pub and saw England were 170 odd for 5 and thought 'about par, could be a good game'. The next day I heard they'd declared and later in the day decided to check on the response, it was only then I realised it was the Aussie's 2nd innings
Anyway, so far the much maligned Cardiff pitch has provided the best match. Did I read correctly that Aus was the top ranked Test nation at the start of the series? If so, how the hell did they manage that?0 -

Rubbish series, tbh. Two spineless sides that capitulated every time there was a bit of pressure applied. At least there won't be another Ashes series for a couple of years.
On another note... champion that Sangakkara.0 -
I agree, whilst the series win was good for England the actual tests themselves weren't that compelling and the whole thing was a disappointment. Neither side could respond when under pressure and just folded. Just looking at the stats a neutral observer would think some of the tests were played on extremely difficult pitches when the truth is none of them were, it was just poor application from the batsmen.0

Mostly agree - Trent Bridge wicket was pretty tricky though: well the conditions were certainly, but the deck had something to do with it too.
As I'm sure it's already been pointed out in this thread (which I've only just got to) - if England had been a bit more ruthless they would have batted first at the Oval. It just wasn't a pitch you put the oppo in on, and as far as I'm aware a bit of cloud cover and humidity do not guarantee swing.
It was a rash gamble: some might say the match didn't matter and it was worth a shot. But I don't think you'd ever get the Aussies being so blase about finishing a series 3-2 up instead of 4-1 though.0
