Was your wife the author of the Centre Parcs thread on mumsnet?
That's the sort of thing only a complete idiot would say.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -

I'd like to see things from your point of view, but I can't seem to get my head that far up your ass.I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0 -
WTF is going on in Road Forum? Are the mumsneters winding US up now?
OP, Get well soon but the internet is not the place to get medical advice. I'm an expat too so i feel some of your pain in terms of understanding medical problems but this is not the way to solve it. Get well enough to leave hospital and then go to wherever home is and get to work with a specialist. Even if a doctor were to post anything (which IMO would be a little irresponsible of them) without seeing the whole story it would be meaningless. You ve had a massive smash and it will take time to recover. Put off plans for the TdF this year and start getting better. One of those jobs will be to put the incident behind you and for most people that means learning to laugh about it. Witness the banter between military guys who have lost limbs for example. Many a study shows that wallowing in self pity is not the way to get better0 -
Shall we just skip straight to measuring our penises?
I can absolutely assure you that you've caused someone you've never met some distress with your comments thinly disguised as humour. Sleep on that.
You literally have no idea what you are talking about. That's fine, but it would be far better in that case to say nothing. That goes for two other trite posters here. Genuinely I find your comments ill informed and offensive.
Ironic also that you round on me for posting generally in the same childish vein, in riposte. Did I mess up my application to your little club? Or don't you like the reflection?0 -
I think you need some time away from the internet, you re starting to get needlessly upset
Sorry to divert your thread zen, it's rather amusing when someone as constantly pompous and patronising as FA falls so far as he has done tonight. But as a newbie you re arent to know of his previous nonsense.
I guess your permanently in Thailand but what is your deal there? Where would you even consider home and would you want to go back there for treatment? We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

What a waste of time this has been which in itself a good thing at the moment. Entertaining and has helped pass some time. Arguing with fools is stupid and don't have the energy.
Brief Summary:
* accident in foreign country
* provided link to x-rays and scans
* not looking for sympathy but want opinions about my injuries
* local doctors are telling me my lung will only recover 80-85% because of 2 of my ribs are intruding into its space. IMO - the docs are wrong. Most althletes recover 100% after similiar injuries. 2 outside doctors have now looked at the x-rays and scans and given me their professional opinions(100% or nearly capacity). I probably have enough info now to make an educated guess on my future lung capacity.
Knew the chance of receiving a medical prognosis was slight when I posted. Also not surprised with Mathew. He'll grow-up someday and quite possibly develop a sense of humor. If possible, we could all give Mathew a big hug and let him know he'll be OK and it is just a phase of growing up. Some do it with grace while others struggle. Hug and kisses Mathew you'll make it through this!0 -

It was mad before, but we kept a lid on it...
I seem to remember even in past years summer was the time when the road section went mental... I am sure there is a reason for thatleft the forum March 20230 -
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
The things I've gleaned from the thread:
Riding at 40 mph (downhill presumably??) in near darkness is not without risks.
Asking for a skilled medical opinion on a cycling forum can meet with a mixed response.
The black humour / directness of those in the armed forces can be misconstrued.
And still I find this one of the friendliest places on the internet0 -

I would just like to say that the moderation has improved significantly recently. Can't think why...?0

a quick question...if i may?
why was the f ing disgrace thread locked (for going off topic? so may as well lock 1/2 the threads on here) when it had no where near resorted to the level of insult and offence this thread seems to have caused, yet this one is allowed to continue unabated?0 -

It's a forum on the net moderated by volunteers without renumeration and a site which is provided for free.

BTW I'm on my last warning and at least two of my "offensive" or "trolling" content were posted by other members who weren't sanctioned or had their posts deleted. Was it worth challenging? Not in my view as the guys are doing their best and this place or what someone thinks or doesn't think really doesn't matter.“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring”

It is arbitrary and inconsistent to an extent as it depends on who reads the report. The forums are moderated reactively, not proactively so if something is flagged using the report button it will be looked at. As Slowmart has said this is done entirely voluntarily and if anyone wants to be a moderator I'm sure they are welcome to offer their services. I was asked if I wanted to do this and agreed, probably against my better judgement, as this place needs volunteers. Now this is going too far off topic and any continuation should be in a new thread in the Discuss the Website with the Team forum.0 -

That depends. I'm impressed your taking time to post rather than drive your tracctttooooorrrrrr.“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring”

This explosion of hysteria reminds me of the collapse of uk rec cycling before it became moderated.
In these days of moderators and newsgroups by permission I think we have forgotten how to deal with trolls and twits. They really need to be ignored to neutralise them.Raleigh Eclipse, , Dahon Jetstream XP, Raleigh Banana, Dawes super galaxy, Raleigh Clubman

Here is comparatively sedate, but there does seem to be something of a pack mentality which is increasingly unpleasant to what are seen as incomers. Even "black humour" has to have humour in it, you know. Merely being snide isn't the same thing.
What I don't understand is why the commuting forum, which is largely frequented by roadies with jobs, doesn't descend into personal insults. Is it better moderated ?(it is, but you wouldn't notice). Is it because some of the Londoners there have actually met? I don't know.
I'll grant you I respond in kind sometimes, but I'd really prefer discourse more like a conversation than a prelude to a fight outside a pub.0 -

What's your take on the discrepancy between the tone of the two boards?0 -
