My bike was paid for by me, not taxes :-( . But I did get tax relief through the cyclescheme :-) .

Is First Aspect still angry at us all? Or am I just using this as an excuse to push up my post count and ensure that this thread, which has blossomed into the forum equivalent of the delight of an early summer's morning spent having fresh espresso with TDLO, never leaves the top of the Road General tree?

Yeah, still super PO'd. I'm even PO'd with the people who agree with me.

I just stood on the balcony for 2 mins and saw a bat, a hare, several swallows, a curlew and some sheep. That really made me angry, all of that.

I used this old rail line path when on holiday in Aberdeen last year.

    http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/maps/map4_4ab.shtml

It was a great way to get out of Aberdeen quickly so I could enjoy the quiet roads on Royal Deeside.

It was going well on my setting my fastest time on the flat ride when I got held up by this girl sitting on a Dutch style sit up and beg bike, riding hands free, with headphones and no helmet.

    How bad is that?

At that location the person was a special. Hardly a stretch to go fast on especially with the blind right bend to mentioned gate and it all being narrow.

Bet the cyclist went that way to avoid Denhall lane, lazy.

What is wrong with spending all my pocket money on a nice bike, or two, maybe three? If it helps a chunk of my pocket money is now paid for by your taxes (and mine) or the education fees paid by your child.
I think what you are commenting on is people enjoying themselves and keeping a post light hearted when it could turn into a bashing topic with what are often uninformed or polarised views. Bit grumpy aren't you, did you wake up next to pina?

I'd be very f*cking grumpy if I found him sleeping in my bed.

N+1, none of them paid for by Mummy or tax breaks. Can someone tell me what part of the Short Tax Return I put down bicycles as a business expense please?

@ Navrig. Was she cute? Did you get a good look at her noorks?

Actually she very cute. Long flowing blond hair, blue Alice band, a pair of denim dungaree shorts, a tight red sweater, blue and white trainers and quite a few rings on her fingers.

I didn't get a long enough look to comment on her womanly attributes.

Anyhow, FA has a balcony? How very 70s. I hope that you've calmed down now though. Just because we were/are right and you and Douglas were wrong doesn't mean that we don't love you.

Hey, I have been a cyclist for over 20 years and have always been respectful of other pedestrians/cyclists especially on shared paths, using a bell and slowing down, its just common sense/courtesy and ofcourse safe. I have noticed however that there is an increasing amount of cyclist who just fail to do any of these. The last straw for me was cyclist on the shared path at LIttle Neston today ran over my young dog at great speed hitting her with the front AND back wheel before eventually coming to a stop a considerable distance away. How fast?? You idiot.

Although he was apologetic, he had made no attempt to slow or alert anyone of his approach despite being able to see from a great distance that there was people and dogs on the path. The dogs were in one spot together and not darting around.

Why is this happening? As a cyclist myself I just don't understand it?

I urge anyone reading this to please use a bell etc and slow down some, we don't own these paths and people like the idiot above give us all a bad name and risk compromising our use of these paths.

    Thank you for your time

I've got real reservations about the RAF's use of Drones .... Can I bore you with it?
Still thinking of something clever to say!

Is the technical name at the end of the bing bing noise that a bell makes called a bell end? Just wonderin' like.

idiot pedestrians, some with dogs, often walk out into the road without looking, happened to me twice today, fortunately i was on my guard

but clearly they should all be forced to carry bells and ring them constantly to forewarn innocent cyclists that there is an idiot pedestrian on the loose who may lurch into the road without warning
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

You can tell he wants a balcony, really, but it would scrape against the house next door.

    Infinitely larger than his.
  • Quelle balcon,as the French say. Or am I back to the topic of the Dutch girl?
Never be tempted to race against a Barclays Cycle Hire bike. If you do, there are only two outcomes. Of these, by far the better is that you now have the scalp of a Boris Bike.

  • OP, is the dog okay?

The responses to this post are a disgrace. It just confirms my belief that the road forum filters out purile pre-pubescent wannabes.

For your information IF you use shared use paths on a bike, there will be at the very most a 12mph notional speed limit. They are not for training. They are for transport. It IS your responbnsibility to give way to essentially everything else. You don't need a bell, but if you don't have one, you have brakes and a voice. You make the decision to be slowed down by all other users of the shared path when you make the decision to use it in the first place. Its the trade off for not having to shoulder check for cars.

If the OP posts this on thre grown ups forum (commuting chat) he will receive a more measured response.

I agree too. The responses on this thread reveal some stunning arrogance, not to say sociopathic tendencies, as well as immaturity.

You are correct, I don't have a balcony and I do quite like them, so if you do have one on your flat its quite cool. I have an 1812 converted granite cider barn with some land, so a balcony wouldn't really fit in with it to be honest.

The holiday home in Italy has four balconies over looking the Abruzzo mountains though (balconii? Balconae?) so I presume that makes up for my derth of GB based balconies.

How is the chip on your shoulder today? Seems to be growing somewhat. Like yo' momma's waistline.

The thread has been reported and to be truthful has gone so far off topic and is totally pointless, so am locking.
