Apologies if this has already been posted but I am sure many of us have had close passes on Priory Lane. Amazingly this guy has not been arrested

It seems the dailymail have helpfully cut out the full glory of the driver cutting him up:

What have his clothing and car got to do with it?

taken the embedded picture out for obvious reasons. As much as it's hilarious, not sure everyone wants to see a man's chode selfie0 -
Though separately, I do find the mob justice on the internet fairly terrifying.
Hilarious in this instance, but terrifying nonetheless.0 -
I do agree, but then incidents like that are totally unpunished by the police in a lot of cases.
People seem to think that they can act like utter chodes with actions bordering on total insanity with complete impunity. I think that the advent of social media makes these people suddenly a hell of a lot more accountable.

quite, he has been charged and sentences.
and clearly at least for that moment he did wrong.
and as much as it is funny and in some ways deserving. Mob justice is equally bullying though clearly in this case written rather than verbal or physical0 -

For sure, but we all have our meltdown moments from time to time.
I've certainly had enough instances which I'm glad weren't recorded and plastered all over the internet, and I imagine pretty much everyone has the same.0 -
Me too, but he put the one of his pen1s on there himself.0

whilst agreeing with your sentiments this eye popping loony really should not be driving a car and if this sort of internet vendetta helps calm other drivers down then some good will come out of it.0 -

Bahaha.
Look I'm hardly defending the guy.
I just hope the red mist doesn't descend when I'm being filmed. Easier said than done nowadays.
It's more my own insecurities rather than anything to do with him. He's a Johnson, that's clear.0 -

Yeah. The problem is, we're all subject to the vagaries of our hormones - if the adrenaline starts flowing then it puts you on edge and it can be hard to react in the calm measured fashion that we imagine. I doubt the cyclist is proud of the tirade of abuse he directed at the driver (which if not the trigger certainly led to an escalation of the incident).
Ultimately I'd rather that road incidents which actually result in cyclist injury/fatality were treated more seriously by the law, rather than this guy who at the end of the day avoided knocking off the cyclist and didn't punch him either.
Still, the reason I mentioned the leather jacket & land rover in my prior post is because I'd identify both of them as likely to be worn by someone as a status symbol, unlikely to appreciate his status being challenged (eg by a cyclist not being sufficiently deferential to his status on the road, driving his expensive and powerful car).0 -
We all get angry from time to time, and for most it's natural to get defensive and self-righteous when highly indignant. But not many of us take the time to re-think it coolly after the event and admit the possibility we might have been in the wrong.
Idiots like him are not restricted to drivers, there'll be just as many who are cyclists, pedestrians etc etc. There's no reasoning with them in the heat of the moment. Best avoided and ignored if possible.Dolan Titanium ADX 2016

Regarding mob justice, I agree it's not nice. In fact I first saw this after iPete posted in in General, but he has now edited his post for that very reason. It's now all over the forums (fora?). Unfortunately you can't put the lid back on a can of worms, I bet the driver wishes he could. Also, like Rick, I've had my moments that I'm very glad are not on film. Although nowhere near that level of total lunacy.0 -
I have to say I agree with the sentiments of becoming uneasy about how much the perpetrators are being punished for their, admittedly despicable, actions.
But, can I also say, I've cycled on the coldest days and seen my manhood shrivel to the size of a grape. But it's still bigger than whatever that is.............My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

The shocking thing is that most of us have probably experienced abuse from motorists, admittedly not to the extent of someone stopping and going ape-shaped.
Probably not the best PR for the guy's cafes, either...

motorists on Prior Lane do get very angry if you don't use the cycle path - makes you wonder what will happen when they put the new superhighways in0

Looks a bit 6 of one half a dozen of the other. Slapping his car and all the mental shouting. The driver comes out worse with the threats etc at the end, but the cyclist is trying to wind him up. I bet it would not have escalated so much if it was not being video'd.
I would imagine most of us have been in similar shouting matches...this wins the award for most ridiculous! A perfect storm of bad driving, cam wearing angry cyclist and nutter aussie. I bet it ruined both their days. That is my usual feeling after road rage slanging match with a car driver - I might have been right but it always ruins my day after.0 -
I guess the issue is the road has been narrowed to put in a cycle lane that nobody uses. You can see how the drivers get peed off, but its not the cyclists' fault that bike lanes are rubbish.0

The driver doesn't come out of this well, neither does the cyclist, but I don't find the whole internet lynch mob thing very pleasant either. In all three cases (driver, cyclist, social media) it smacks of people wanting to be nasty to someone else, and then finding an excuse to justify it.Pannier, 120rpm.0 -
Would he have appologised if his business wasn't getting all the negative press. Not that it matters much either way? Personally - I don't think so.0

There's loads of those "cycle lanes" round here (Aylesbury). The Council got a pile of cash to make the town a "cycling city", put up a few signs and painted lines on the pavement and off you go. Pocketed the rest of the cash. So we now have cycle lanes aimed at kids that cross busy junctions and every side road there is, forcing any users to stop constantly and give way to everyone. Frankly, a joke. Self-defeating as well - most riders use the road.
