I agree that it is the steepest, but not necessarily the hardest as it is short.
I walked to the top after the road stopped and was glad I did, but the descent afterwards was probably the scariest part of the ride. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
I found Sa Colabra quite hard as it's really exposed so if it's warm you'll know about it.
Its not that steep though, the beauty of Mallorca is that many of the major climbs are smooth and steady gradients, there isn't anything mental there I don't think, not that I rode anyway!Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0 -
Please note what you all refer to as the "puig Major" climb is actually the col de Monnaber. The real "puig Major" climb, up to the radar base, was opened up twice a year for a couple of races up till 2013 - there is talk of bringing it back in 2016. Its steep, some kms are 12% plus. And scary doing down it in a mass group with 500 others, many of whom do it on mountain bikes when its wet to do some incredible descending.
Puig Maria (outside Pollenca) is steep but really hard only cos its unpaved. There is also a private road round the back of Bunyola which averages something like 12% for 4 or 5kms, we used to use for hillclmb training. Tough.Fitter....healthier....more productive.....0 -
After 7 years living there i always found the hardest was soller up to monnaber tunnel for me. Sa calobra is easier and really dont know what all the fuss is about the descent is rubbish as the surface is crap after all the coaches etc. best climb is salvador i think as for some reason its just different from the rest.0
