Numb toe

Good evening all.
I keep getting a numb toe in my left foot. I used it as a good excuse to buy some new shoes today but the same thing started happening again on their maiden voyage. I noticed that almost all pressure through the pedal stroke is through the ball of my foot and that's made me think that I need to get some cleat wedges to tilt my foot.
Does this sound about right? And if so, for some reason I can't get it in my head as to whether I need to add more to the outer or the inner of my foot to resolve it.
Any advice is appreciated.

i wouldn't think there's any particular reason wedges would help, they're more for adjusting alignment
by default i'd consider footbeds first, some shoes have really poor ones (even high end shoes), but that's just guessing
you need to be more specific...
