Yet Another Di2 Failure

I've had issues with my Di2 randomly. No power from battery, diagnostic showed battery fault so we replaced it. Worked for a few weeks and failed again. We found a dead contact on the EC41 junction box, so swapped the box with one on a friends bike, which fixed fault so I kept his and bought him a new one. All fine for 6 weeks, then same issue again! This time I cured it by swapping the input lead with the signal carrier lead! It's been fine since, but I check it every time I go to the garage as don't trust the thing! If it fails again, next step is to swap lead from battery carrier I guess?

As an aircraft avionics technician (for over 25 years), I will say that intermittent electronic failures can be most difficult to diagnose/repair - especially if you are trying to duplicate a problem that is not there at the present time. OP - I would suggest trying to replicate the problem - have it on and wiggle/shake/jar each connection/component the best you can to see if you can induce a failure. The fact that it started working again after you disconnected and reconnected the cables (if I understand things right) suggests you may have an intermittent cable that - under just the right conditions - opens when you hit a small bump or turn the right way - anything to create the condition that causes the one-in-a-thousand circumstance to have the connection go open. Until you can replicate the problem repeatedly, you will not be sure you have fixed the problem. If you can replicate the problem, any corrective actions you take are simply guesses and may or may not fix the problem.

Ive had 2 to 3 years of enjoyable cycling with Di2, I love how the derailleur never goes out of index and changes gear perfectly all the time.
The only problem Ive had is, if you crash onto the right hand side of the bike. The rear derailleur is made out of a crumbly cheese and even the most slowest and gentlest of crashes will f**K it up. The rear hangar or "crash mode" hasn't protected them.
The cost to replace a normal mechanical Ultergra derailleur... £50
The cost to replace am Uletgra di2 derailleur... £130

I don't think you should use Di2 in the Alps.
