not too worried about gusts, but this sort of thing is what I'm most worried about in high winds

I guess that shows the difference (practicality and in risk) of cycling in a city versus the sticks, I don't like high side winds as 2 parts of my commute are exposed and prone to high cross winds, it's sometimes hard just to stay on the right (erm that's the left) side of the road, throw in traffic passing at 50mph and it's not funny!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

Today's forecast: very quick wind assisted journey home. 14mph on the way in, 30+ on the way home?

2 relentless hours of cold hard rain on the way home last night was quite horrid. No chance of cycling today - just wouldn't stay upright. Had to give a coach two lanes of meandering space on Thelwall viaduct this morning. It's a bit blowy on the NW coast.

That wasn't much fun. Cycling east to west it took at least 10 minutes longer than the normal 1 hour, absolutely slogging to get to an appointment on time. For once, the "road bikes are more aerodynamic" trope might have had some merit on the Commuting forum ;)

Oh yeah, the plane trees are dropping their fluff, and with the wind gusts it's like being sandblasted in the eyeballs. Still, better than the tube...

Just had a comedy ride from the city over London bridge brought to a standstill almost pushed over then tailwind all within a few mins.

Glad I'm not in the country!

Trees going from vertical to about 30deg from horizontal in a couple of seconds meant I bailed. As the two & a half tonne Land Rover was noticeably buffeted in transit, I do not rue my lack of testicular fortitude today.

I dunno about cycling but the rest of the infrastructure in NL has fallen to bits: trains aren't running and my cable connection (Internet and TV) is shaky as hell this evening!!!

You sure you're not still in the UK that sounds like a normal day.

We have rain describing circles in the air at the moment. Blazing sunshine and an epic downpour at the same time earlier, but only on one side of the house.

OK in Leeds. Worst bit was popping out of the office at 9am - passing a box of a building I was blown down to barely more than 5mph and off the road! Luckily I knew the building was dodgy and had allowed for it. Way home was just a 10mph average slog.....

It does that doesn't it? I remember the chaos at Amsterdam Central during the storm in 2014. No info about anything at all yet a few trains were running - just nobody could tell you where and when and the boards were all blank. You had to speak to the random right person to get a tip off and hope that it was a good one!
