I need something to take the chill off in the morning, its too warm for thick gloves but too cold for fingerless (i find).

Ive never replaced my gore gloves that went missing a LONG time ago (some girl chucked them on a motorway). I cant even remember the model name to buy them again...

So suggestions please?

Not until you tell us *exactly* what happened to the old ones...

lent them to a girl on a ride, she took them off when there was a gust of wind by a motorway, they disappeared over the side of the bridge.
  • This is a sore point with me - had an absolutely brilliant pair of Louis Garneau Course Attack gloves that were perfect for about six months of spring / autumn conditions.
    And of course lost them.
If you can find them still stocked anywhere in the UK, I want to know please. :?

My favourite lightweight fingered gloves funnily enough are the Halfords ones. The only ones with fingers long enough for me. A big "nose-wipe" area too. I have 3 pairs.

I was hoping for something more scandalous :(

Cheap Planet X gloves for me - Lobster ones for really cold weather, Softshell ones for intermediate conditions. I have a few pairs of the latter so I can use one pair for pre-riding CX courses and then switch to a clean pair for the race itself. They don't last forever, but they're cheap as chips so I don't mind chucking them after a couple of seasons (and wouldn't be distraught if they were dropped off a motorway bridge).

The most flexible gloves I've ever owned are the Assos Early Winters (851). Second to those are some Pearl Izumi ones with thin lobsters built into the backs that you can use or tuck away

I had those Pearl Izumi's and ended up cutting out the lobster fingers as they never seemed to stay tucked away.

It might sound flippant but the missus bought a pair of thin fleece gloves from Tesco for a quid... worn underneath mitts they work perfectly for me when it's 6-10c approx...

Details on the website do not specify whether they are actually windproof or not. The material on the back of hand looks a bit woolly-glove - ie., not windproof?

so tomorrow i'll have a shed tonne of choice...

bought the gore ones today, and having delivered from wiggle the two different castelli ones

I had a pair of those, and the Assos liner gloves to go with them. I found that even at 4 degrees the combination of the two was too chilly. Sold the Early Winters, kept the liners use them with some cheaper craft gloves that aren't as well fitted, but at least don't allow *all* the chill in.

    Overpriced tat, in my opinion.

  • Just bought a pair of these from PX:

I got some of the Jacobson overshoes from Sports Pursuit a few weeks back and they are simply superb - really well fitted and well thought out. Hopefully the gloves will be as good.

I got the lightness this week. When they arrived I thought they were weird, was going to send them back. Tried them yesterday on a 4 mile commute in at 2 degrees and, as expected, I was cold. But I knew that. Just wanted to try the feel of them.

Just been to the shops, 5 miles, at 6 degrees. They were great.

Just go with the Lightness bud. I've had mine months now and for anything above 5 degrees I find them brilliant. Honestly one of the best bits of kit I own.
