Corrected re wheel size but px detail says it has 22 gears!.

I didn't read that far down, I just saw it has tiagra 10 speed and worked it out from there. 22 will be left from px's (shortlived) switch to sram.

Does that mean that my SRAM equipped 22 speed bike is a limited run :D Yay for me!

Nope, it's still there as one of the options for £999.99. Looks to be available in both colours and all sizes so it doesn't look like it's a limited run just yet.

As I understand it, Planet X are moving to using SRAM instead of Shimano, and so are selling off all of their Shimano-equipped bikes at the moment. They seem to have shifted all their Ultegra stuff, and have now moved to flogging off the Tiagra bikes.

If you want one with Tiagra, then it may be worth buying now, as they won't be around for much longer.

Thanks everyone, I think that's me decided on the PX. If I'm paying more for something that's technically worse right now then that just doesn't make sense. I know everything can be upgraded later, but that means long term it really doesn't matter what you get whereas short term it makes sense to get the better spec.

Only problem now is getting one ordered before they run out given my Cycle to Work vouchers won't be turning up until mid-April probably!

Anything is better than the bike I'm on now... Shift front ring, clunk, clatter, clatter, clatter, uh-oh, try again, clunk, phew it went in :D I only bought it really cheap second hand though whilst I'm waiting for the vouchers, and to give me something to learn to do maintenance on before I mess up something decent.

AFAIK, they claimed that several months ago, stopped selling shimano for about a month and only had SRAM listed. Now they're suddenly selling shimano again, so I'd assumed the "move to SRAM" was marketing speak for "we're waiting for some more shimano parts."

I'm fully prepared to be mistaken/proved wrong though.

Or, we're playing hardball with shimano to get a better price?

That would be my guess, or more favourable terms built into the contract.
