Totally lost my mojo this morning

  • Yeah it looks like we're headed into a colder spell again :(. Just when we have a bit of warm weather and lighter days making us think spring is here.
  • There's something to be said for being on the ball enough to actually be scared, without having all the inconvenience of falling off or being run over.

I genuinely laughed at that

I went up my usual "killer hill" the other night and noticed the back wheel slipping, but what I didn't realize was I had rode about 50 meters into it and the hill was about 9%. I stopped and sure enough, I could easily slide the bike from side to side under me! I walked back down it again, at a snail's pace.

Last year it was icy all the way up to the beginning of April.

Now who was it that said they don't need ice tyres?

    Doh!

I feel better for knowing that :)

    Still need a hug though.

    Oi, don't get fresh, I'm a catholic.

    :D
Oh, that's a relief. I thought he was asking me.
  • I wasn't asking either of you :p My wo-man gives the best hugs :)

  • Incidentally I decided to take the long route home last night. I'm not sure that my decision to ride along the wet, muddy slick canal path was quite the right therapy.

Mind you I did kind of go hooning along not really caring if I fell off, so I suspose that bit DID work.

  • Tentative ride in this morning, actually felt a lot happier when I got to the office. Took a look at the mess left by the cars coming off last week. Not a pretty sight at all

  • It has been a bit wild this morning, hail, sleet, snow, gales. I managed to miss it all on the way to work this morning. Fingers crossed I have the same luck going home!

It's still pretty mad. I doubt we'll miss all of it. Not least the wind. Good luck mind! Still, at least the Taff Trail is vaguely clean at the moment!

I had an off on black ice yesterday. Broke a pedal, scratched up the end of my bar tape and knocked the left hand shifter out of alignment.

Other than that, only minor injuries for me but enough to stop me riding for a few days. Never had bad luck with ice before.

Very nervy coming in this morning. Beautiful sunshine but the mid-route weather station was still reporting -2 degC..

    Final addendum to this tale:

riding in this morning (post snow / sleet / rain shower) the bike still felt twitchy, so when I stopped for traffic I leant down and checked the front wheel... and it was loose! Not terribly, just a couple of degrees of movement but enough to make the front feel 'unsure'. I stopped and tightened the QR as much as I could safely could and everything felt WAY better after that.

Right so, lads, that one failed. Whose going to have a go at his rear QR this time?
