John - I am pleased to hear your are enjoying the C59. They really are a great bike.

letap73 - I have not had a chance to ride the C60 yet so I am not yet in a position to compare it to my C59. There have been no problems with the build on the new BB. I had the Ultra Torque cups pressed in when I bought the frame and the cranks went in fine. The only concern I have is the potential for creaking that I have read about for some of the other press fit systems. The quality of the BB shell which the cups press into looks first class though - as does the fit and finish on the whole frame

    Cheers

    That is rather lovely ....

I've just bought myself a Cervelo R2, which is rather nice. I love it ... But .... That's just on another level. One I'll probably never be allowed to reach lol.

    Enjoy :)
Still thinking of something clever to say!

Very cool, I thought for about 3 secs whether to go the C60 route or keep my 2012 Europcar and decided to placate my wife and buy myself a 911 instead  :D

Be interested on how you think it rides.

Nice thing with the C60 is that you can if you want in future switch to electronic.

All the later C59s are electric/mechanical too though.
  • Looks lovely, but should the cable outers not be white, to match the Europcar team?
  • Wow, what a beautiful bike!

    Gorgeous, you just nailed it:

    - slammed stem - check
    - RMH bars (my current fave shape) - check
    - best looking stem in the last 5-6 years - check
    - good saddle to bar drop - check
    - goodly amount of seatpost showing - check
    - saddle nicely centred on post - check
    - white tape - check

Forget about what colour the cable housing should be, so many bikes are over-coordinated they look like a dog's breakfast. Maybe you can cut your rear der cable a bit but that is seriously it.

I hope when you ride it you don't adjust it out of its aesthetic balance and perfection.

I've resisted looking at this thread although I've seen it calling me. I must confess I don't like a lot of carbon frames, but that is absolutely gorgeous. I too now have bike envy, I knew I shouldn't have looked at this thread.

    Lovely!

Super Record RS would've tied in nicely with the flag detail.

Just catching up on all the recent posts - thanks again for all of the positive comments. To answer some of the points / questions raised.....

Headset type - it is the standard Acros type which now ships with the C60. It uses a standard bung in the steerer to clamp things down, rather the expandable collar type fitted to the later C59's

Super Record RS - I did look seriously at this group set for the build, particularly as I do prefer the 5 arm cranks. I understand that individual parts would be difficult to come by so if the worse were to happen, replacements may not be available. In the end, price was also a factor as I secured 2015 group quite a bit cheaper than I could find the RS version.

White cables? Not on this build but I do have them on another bike which is mostly white

The set up in the photo is how the bike will be ridden (saddle, bar position etc) as I am familiar with the Colnago geometry and my body shape seems to work well with this size frame. Adrian Timmis set me up on my first C59 a few years ago.

I may need to re-cable though as I can't get the brakes to pull smoothly. On the Presa bars , it's tricky to run the cables through the guides without putting some tight bends on the cables during the fitting. I've clearly crimped something too much on the rear brake and it feels really rough in use. I've had this before with Presa bars and it is just a case of fitting another length of cable outer. Proper PITA though - I really need to find another bar I like! Still, I doubt I will be able to ride it for a couple of months so I have plenty of time to sort it out :(

    Cheers

  • Just to echo what others have said that really is a lovely bike, congrats. I'm not sure I would've used white bar tape but it really seems to work.

Hope you have lots of fun on it

I swapped out the brake cables in the end and they are now much smoother. As I had to fit some new tape, I thought I would see what black looks like? And with some different wheels....

I have only had one 20 mile ride so far but I definitely like the feel of the new Campag groupset. The bike feels solid, smooth and rattle / squeak free but I would expect that from a new build. I need at least a couple of longer rides before I can add more by way of a comparison to my C59
