How far have you ridden this year?

Unfortunately, the introduction of a Garmin to my rides has now shown I've only done ~1300 miles since I got it in mid June.

So with a bit of rough guessing I'd say I'd of done about 2500 miles this year.

Now with my pathetic distance total, i'm interested to see how far you guys have ridden.

Excuses are welcome for meagre mileage, I'll certainly be using mine...

Just checked Strava: 10.770,60 km so far this year. I guess I will add an extra 100km to this till the end of this year.

    Almost identical. 10878km
  • 5000km which, surprisingly, is very similar to last year when I was doing 50k RT commute (I'm now doing about 10k which I don't record so I guess you could add another 2000k). 40,000m of elevation.

A normal year for me: 7000 miles, all on Exmoor, 800,000 feet of elevation, according to a Garmin 500.

    Distance 15,454.2 mi
    Time 1017h 6m
    Elev Gain 908,169 ft

  • I set myself the target of 100 miles per week for 2014 - I've done 5201 and im well chuffed with muself so thanks for asking OP. Still a couple of days to go but ice is forecast so it looks like 9 Hammers and Angels 2015 for the rest of the year for me.

Well done mate! I might nab that idea from you for my goal for next year! Give me a nice target to aim for.

I have an arbitrary target of more cycle miles than car miles. This year my car has done 5200 (last checked) miles, cycled 5900. Happy enough with that.

    Good work everyone :)

For me, from my Strava stats: 11,233 km so far. Reckon I'll do about another 180km before the end of the year.
    88,957m elevation, 234 rides.

I'm planning on doing more km's over the winter here in New Zealand in 2015. A few months in 2014 were pretty light.

2013 I think I did about 4300 odd so 5200 was an achievable step up for me, I tracked it as 433 per month as too much variation in week totals was doing my head in! I reckon I may well have have ridden it all anyway but it was good to have that target in mind.

Down a bit this year - about 3000 miles in France, a guess at 2000 miles commuting in the UK, and 1000 on club rides etc. Previous years have seen passable weather on my days off when I've been free, but this year has just been grey, cold and wet too often when I've had time and energy. Pah. Must try harder.

10,000 miles. I always do 10,000 miles. Had to do 236 miles the week before Christmas to get it (was a bit short) and have been known to cycle round and round in circles just outside my front door just to get it spot on (don't you just hate it when your a couple of hundred feet short). Though, i never complain if i accidentally go over it (just deduct the amount i have to ride the first week of the new cycling year to balance it all out).

Should really set myself a higher goal of 12,000 to do a even 1000 a month. But while i often do 1200 miles a month in summer i struggle in the winter months (usually around the 6/800). Or maybe buy a road bike to make the miles easier, instead of doing it all on my hybrid or mountain bike (used to own one but never really got on with it).
  • 3400 miles.
114000ft of climbing. Was hoping for 4000 but just not quite there

  • 4538 miles and 205498 ft of ascent which is mainly weekend and evening riding. Quite pleased with that, as it's over a 1000 more than last year, and has been steadily gained through the year. Don't think I'll make 5000 now, but happy really, as I was only aiming for 4000.

Not enough. Been a busy year workwise and some other personal things have taken priority.

Somewhere between 13000 and 14000km. But it is the inconsistency that gets me - there are plenty of weeks with less than 100km in them.

2,247 miles and 144,331ft of climbing. Went out on my first road bike in February, I don't commute by bike (I have to pick my son up after work) and I have to look after the aforementioned son until my wife gets home from work.

However he starts two full days at nursery from next month, so I get the chance to put in some extra rides :) next years target is somewhere around 4,000 miles.

8370 km so far with 76,400 m of climbing. Similar to last year, although last year I had to do a 120 km ride on New year's Eve to crack 8k; luckily it was bright but freezing. Hoping to do an "Everesting" before the summer so need to make the elevation gain a priority (gulp!)

    4250 Miles ridden
    320 Hours in the chair
    240,000 ft climbed

Roughly split 65/35 Road to MTB.

Commuted only about 3 times. It's not a nice ride.

Hi Ouija, 10,000 miles a year on any bike is impressive, especially if all on a hybrid and mountain bike. However why does it have to be exactly 10,000 miles per year - you don't really cycle round in circles around your front door to get it exact, do you? That does seem a wee bit sad.

I've done just over 3,600 miles this year, but quite pleased as my best yet as just over 3,500 last year.

5055 miles/247.000' of ascent, none of which were commuting, just 276 hrs spent generally meandering around the Derbyshire countryside.

3500km, which given that I ve had probably the hardest year I (hopefully) will ever have plus a number of GPS fails and a lot of commutes that I just did nt bother to log, I'm pretty pleased with...
