    Las Vegas, Dad and sons long weekend. :wink:

    Weekend skiing, life changing if you've not done it

    Cookery school. Give em the skills or at least start the journey together.

    Don't stress, enjoy the choosing!

  • Here's a Kai I bought in a mad moment on holiday in San Sebastian this summer;

    Very, very sharp, in fact the shop owner had a big bandage on one finger where he'd cut himself the day before, which was kind of funny....

    What a lovely knife! Damascus blades are a thing of beauty and seeing them smithed is amazing. I bought my father a pocket knife for Christmas 2 years ago and the workmanship on the blade is mind blowing.
    tick - tick - tick
  • I had bought my first KAI on a bit of a whim, and didn't expect out to be anywhere near as practical and durable as it has been. That was 5 years ago, and I fully expect at least another decade out of it. Even at full price, it owes me nothing at this stage. The sole issue has been keeping it away from Commis and other magpie eyed associates.

    Yep, it makes cooking fun when you're doing it with a Samurai sword!
  • Heres my 2pennorth….As a 54 yr old father of a 26yr old son still living at home, the OP is right..it can be nightmare…however…you can hit the right note…

    2yrs ago "our" xmas gift to said son as well as actual gifts was me agreeing to go to Yellowstone National Park in USA for a back to nature camping holiday that he fancied, and none of his mates did…so good old Dad was "kindly volunteered" by the Gaffer!!!
    On the list of things I have done with said son it is up there as one of the best Dad/Lad trips ever!!

    Clearly as one poster said…budget is the thing…..as all kids do when tagging along with parents..his money "ran out" 4 days before the holiday did!! The look on his face when I told him so had mine was, as the ad says…PRICELESS!!
    So to recap…a trip of some description..with them both..they will love Dad taking insane risks/decisions..and you bond forever!!!
