Mini USB cable for garmin

Managed to kill my supply of working leads for my garmins, now when I try to connect to PC it charges but doesn't go into data mode. Looking to buy a new one and vaguely recall that not all mini usb leads will work properly so just checking if that is the case and what I need to be looking for to ensure I get the appropriate cable?

    eBay sell them listed as working with Garmin edge. They're pennies. I bought 5 last time.

    Be sure to check it's the cable and not a bent pin in the Garmin like mine was

    Or corrosion on the USB port.

    Cheers, will have a look on ebay. I tried a 500 and an 800, both have been working fine until recently but now refuse to connect so cable seems to be the obvious problem!

    Or try a different USB port on the pc??
