I'm a more 'bare essentials' man, as opposed to ' cover for every eventuality' man.

If you want vanity or care about looks, then this should appeal. I'm seriously tempted as Mark uses one!

    bare essentials for me too.

Tubular ride: just a can of Vittoria Pit Stop in my back pocket
Clincher ride: 1 x tube, tyre levers, some of those sticky patches, tyre boot, frame held mini-pump.

I've never carried 'tools' and I don't use mobile phones. However, this year I have carried an emergency mobile for the first time ever, simply because I have to pick up my girls from primary school and I would have to have someone there if I am delayed, I've not needed it yet.

For the past 30 odd years, if I got ever got stuck I hitched a lift - on a bus (twice) and a farmers pick-up once - one ripped off rear derailleur, one broken spokes and one tubular blow out that the sealant wouldn't fix.
