It Was Alright in the 1970s

I saw a bit of this last night and it was cringe-worthy.
There was an episode of Curry and Chips (1969) that was unbelievable you just can't imagine it was acceptable to show...
The scenes for the Black and White Minstrels... jeezsee

Driving cars? Smoking? Alcohol? Drugs in general? Gangsta Rap?
........
I am not sure. You have no chance.
Another one was Derek Griffiths and a bus with a woman singing chink-ee chink-ee something or other while pulling their eyes to make themselves look Chinese.
This is not it but was the best I could find;

Its the bit where he goes Mr Yellow Chinky that in Derek's version he does the eyes...
Smoking, of course, is already unacceptable.
What, the SNP? Certainly none of the parties that have English MPs...
My wife is 100% against. My sons are 100% for.
I am, meh.
And are we talking purely tobacco, or all smoking?
I am not sure. You have no chance.
I blame the parents (well, not your wife).
All smoking outside the works of JRR Tolkien. Don't they even have vapourisers for the dodgy stuff now?
I don't doubt you are correct, so what else?
I say future as no matter how offensive it is to some right now, there is a sizeable percentage that are happy to continue today.
I am not sure. You have no chance.
Legs & Co. One 70's throwback I'm not adverse to.
Desmond Tutu
Doesn't mean that you are wrong though.
I am not sure. You have no chance.
The 70's Bush would put me off.
Ehm, is that not Pan's People? Big Babs (per Norman Stanley Fletcher) 2nd left.
I am not sure. You have no chance.
a quick search does indeed show the group is pans people. My apologies if anyone has knocked one out under the false impression they are looking at legs and co and not pans people.
Desmond Tutu
Pan's People made many a young lad very happy, back in the day. It was indeed alright in the 70s, sometimes.

Someone clearly knocked one out more often than you.

Some dodgy clothing:
Some super cool cars:
and the odd dodgy one:
I remember, as a child of the 70's, the first family to get a car in our street got an Austin Allegro. It became something of a communal vehicle with different households borrowing the car at weekends. I recall the excitement felt on the occasions my dad would come home and say "we've got Brian's car for the day on Sunday!" This invariably resulted in a drive to a country pub, and me spending several hours sat on my own in said Austin Allegro being topped up with coke and crisps while my mum and dad got p1ssed in the pub.
Happy days
I distinctly remember one of the neighbours trying to flog a device that you plugged into the aerial socket on black and white TVs that was supposed turn it into colour telly! Thankfully my technically inept late father didn't fall for that one.
Mmmmmm Bidi Bidi Bidi
As others have said difficult to judge the 1970s from today's prespective. In the future people might be looking back and saying 'That Nelson Mandela was disgusting, he ate meat'.
As for the curry and chips episode it has to be the singularly most unfunny and offensive piece of TV comedy/sit-com ever broadcast. Even allowing for the passage of time it is just so offensive.
