Something just went *ping* in my outer upper thigh / hip...

Was doing circuits last night for the first time in a while, and having done a fair bit of forward lunges and squats etc, went into reverse lunges and at about the 3rd or 4th one felt something go ping! in my left outer thigh / hip area.
No real pain afterwards, just a slight burning, and no massive comeback this morning riding in apart from a definite stiffening up in the area that I feel more when walking.
Get pain if I attempt to put my foot backwards - as you would in a reverse lunge...
Am booking in to physio but any insight into what it probably is and what I should / should not be doing in the meantime would be appreciated ....
