Software for Turbo Training?

Just looking through some old files on the computer tonight and I came across Turbotraining.co.uk. Does anyone use this as an alternative to Trainerroad? Looks like it is about half the price but not much of a saving if the software is iffy. Thinking of suspending the TR and giving it a go.

Before you do that try Golden Cheetah. It is free. It is a bit buggy and not as polished but will do all that stuff.
  • Thanks for the reply EBEB. GC looked like a good alternative to TR but I can't get it to work (made a previous post about this) on my PC or Mac. If I could though I would definitely use it.
  • I use this http://veloreality.com/products/trainer-software/
Software is pretty good and just make my own workouts

I use Cycleops VirtualTraining- the videos are fantastic and you can make your own routes using gpx files and it shows on Streetview. The rides can be uploaded to Strava too. It's pretty damn accurate too!

    You can try my product:

    http://www.wattzap.com/

There is a commercial and a community version. Works on Linux, Windows and there is an OSX version. The commercial version also works with Tacx RLV videos. Usual video playback (RLV and synched GPX files) linked to turbo power, training workouts plus analysis. Next version will also have a power file format that lets works with any video file you have (sufferfest, stuff from YouTube etc).

    +1

I also use VT to do my interval training too. Works perfectly with the Kickr.

Do you use Virtual Training with a resistance turbo (Powerbeam, Kickr, whatever) or without? I'm thinking of giving it a go with my combo of Powertap and KK turbo but not sure the videos will work so well without the resistance unit....

I use the turbotraining.co.uk software. Its good because I don't own a power meter but I get (what I am hoping!) Is an accurate power figure for the workouts. I've followed one of their training plans and made good progress. I now tend to create my own workouts

Just wanted to bump this up and ask a question:

If you use the CVT app without their turbo trainer, but you have a power meter, does the video/app take into account your power/weight and adjust the speed of the video to make it realistic ?

Really like the idea of this to keep turbo training interesting if so...
