    I'd say that military training is good evidence in that they spend their time and effort trying not to be seen. That means wearing clothing that is similar to the background, avoiding surface shine, breaking up shapes that the brain (more than the eye) automatically recognises as a person or unnatural, and avoiding movements that the peripheral vision quickly picks up. At night time that means very dark clothing and camming up the face as even that reflects light.

    The army has spent decades on teaching this, so I take their advice and do the opposite as a cyclist and leave the arguing to people who like risk taking.
