I don't understand iPhone fans. They queue for hours because the latest iPhone is so fantastic. Then sixth months later, their iPhone is so utterly crap that they'll queue for hours again to get the new latest iPhone.

If the old one was any good, either the new one isn't worth getting or Apple are managing to make improbably vast geniuine improvements with every generation. I can only assume that the iPhone 1 was probably a lump of coal.

    Or the fanboys just deluded.......

A lot of people are still quite happily using a 3G or a 4.

For example, My 4 still does everything I need it to do, I use it far more than my Nexus 7 and I see no need to replace it either with another iphone or an android phone.

And most people don't queue up, they just get their phone delivered...
  • I am sure some iphone users don't know that Apple are treating them like sh1t hence all the sales.

My reasons are simple - price, size, performance, poor OS and itunes.

Price is too high for me even though I am on a top end android phone contract from last year it was still a lot cheaper than an equivalent iphone contract back then.

Size - I use mine for internet, forums, etc. For me I find my 5.2" LG G2 is perfect. The smaller bevels means it really just feels a little bit bigger than my 4 year old Samsung G2.

Performance is good not just because of the fast processor and graphics, 2GB RAM possibly helps. It is good because I find the LG skin is nice to use and a lot of it feels intuitive. I had to revert to my old phone recently and although it was a good one back in the day my current phone is just so much slicker. I've tried ipad and iphone before now and it just was not as slick in my opinion.

People rave about the iOS and the latest version too but whenever I have tried using Apple products I just have never got on with it. We have an ipad at work and I just won't use it preferring to bring in my own nexus 7 tablet to use instead. In my opinion it does not work with the way I like to work on phones and tablets. This is just me I know and others will feel the opposite.

Now anyone who rates the itunes is an idiot. Sorry but I have to pin my colours to the mast straight away. In the early days of my digital music experience I bought a creative mp3 player. it was a massive 4GB but was tiny back in the day. Think of it being 2" tall by 1" wide and about 1/2" thick. It had an OLED screen too. Bundled with it was the Creative suite of software to make uploading your music to the player easier. That was a joke. The software was a real pain, a bit like the Samsung Kies software is now, and after a long time I eventually got it loaded and working. I thought it was good back then and for the day it was considered good by experts. Compared to now it is so creaky and slow, the interface is just awful compares to what is out there now with android and other OS. However, despite all the issues with it I still feel it is as nice to use as the Apple itunes software, by that I mean as horrible to use as the itunes software.
  • One more thing, I had to convert all my digital music into Apple format to use the ipod nano I bought. What a fuss that was. In the end it took too long so I now only have half the music I had before. I now use my phone or laptop for music unless there is a risk of damage/water damage then I take my apple nano out. I could not really care if that gets trashed. If it does I'm only going to be on amazon for a simple mp3 player and sack off the Apple experience completely.

PS I appreciate the advances that have come from Apple and the image that came with the first ipod and iphone. I just don't like the reality behind the image and don't think they have really had any big advances in the areas they opened up since those first ipods and the very first iphone. Innovation has not been maintained by Apple. They have lost their way IMHO. That is the way of all great technology innovators I reckon.

Get a Sandisk Clip Zip - cheap, awesome sound, simple to use, small and light. Discontinued now but still available all over the place manufacturer refurbished.
  • I was going to get one of those but saw one of those tiny apple products at a really cheap price and thought "why not?"

Because they are not worth it is why not.

I'm getting one. I was never an Apple fan until I got a 4s a couple of years ago, then an ipad. I love the simplicity, they do everything I need and are so intuitive to use.

I wouldn't mind a bigger screen as that's my only real gripe with the 4s, so the 6 will be exactly what I want. I won't be paying £50+ pm either, there are already good deals around (£35 pm for a 64gb 6 with unlimited texts and calls + 4gb data - selling my 4s will just about cover the upfront £150).

At the end of the day it's horses for courses, I do find it a little strange though that so many people who don't have an iPhone/ipad slag them off to high heaven, but those that do really don't care what anyone else spends their money on. I literally couldn't care if the latest android phone is waterproof, bombproof and can give me an extra 100 watts when riding the bike, I'm not interested enough to even bother looking.

I'm really not sure where the hatred comes from, nobody makes anybody buy anything.

Got one of those.... faultless IMO. Used it heavily for over a year without one problem. Also, no faff with iTunes.

I own and use daily, a MacBook, but Apple's MP3 players/tablets do indeed suck.

I find iPhone incredibly hard to use and the iPad marginally easier. I don't get the ease of use, just work cliches. I'm a software dev so quite flexible on technology choices, and different environments etc. but throughout the technosphere and I include tv's, kitchen gadgets, computer peripherals etc, the hardest to use imvho is Apple - and that is not ideology, just my honest experience. That said, I couldn't give two shits what people choose to buy.

Should I forward that link to my boss so he can look at it on his new iPhone?

I don't really care that much either but it does amuse me when Apple release things that bend or that you can't use left handed (remember the old 4S) yet Apple fans will still continually bash MS and Windows for being slow and rubbish whereas Apple "just works"

No! it so clearly does not, are you mad?!

If Apple had released Windows 8 it would have been hailed as the greatest OS update ever, yet...

That's the thing though, I don't know a single Apple user who cares enough to bash Windows, Android or whatever. It's the other way around, everyone has an opinion on Apple, especially those that don't own one!

As for iPhones not being easy to use, my wife has had one for two years and never once asked me how to do something - that's totally unheard of for her. They're so simple to use I don't know how anyone can't manage it.

Anyone who doesn't recommend to their parents or, even worse, grandparents that they get an iphone or ipad may as well just stick their head in a wasp nest, it'll be far less painful.

    Apple free household here.

Now I really love Apple hardware - I really think they have that nailed. Operating systems though - good grief no. Utter shite the lot. In my humble opinion of course!

If could stick Cyanogen mod onto an iPad or iPhone then I could be really tempted to buy one.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Have finally gone back to an I phone after 2 years without one and it has made my like worse. Spent the last 6 months with a little Nokia that was indestructible, had a 10 day battery life and weighed very little.

That would be me... every 4-5 years the inexpensive Nokia/Samsung phone gives up, I go to the shop and they give me a new one for free, as long as I top it up with 20 pounds or so... the joy of not having a contract... as I probably top up 50 pounds per year, over the past 13 years I must have saved 2-3,000 pounds

I upgraded to an iPhone 6, yes it is faster and I find it easier to read the screen, would not have liked to have had the 6+ as too big.

The whole family are Apple which makes it great for facetime and sending picture files etc. Yes I know that there is Skype and Whatsapp but the simplicity for some in the family is a real benefit. iTunes for managing my music is great and would be a pain to transfer to another program.

Yep the new iOS8 is glitchy, I can't do my online banking until my bank does a fix and it has hanged a couple of times, but with all that it is still easier to use and more reliable that my old non Apple phones.

A couple of my mates have Samsung Galaxies, nice phones, but there is no consistency between the Apps and the screens don't appear to be as sensitive.
  • I`ll stick with my NGM Explorer

Most of the time the only way I can get out and ride my bike is providing I am in touch with my business, I could never have done this in the old days before having the ability to create quotes and calculate costs.

I suppose if I wasn't self employed then it wouldn't be a problem, but I offer a service 7 days a week 9-9 and as it is internet based I need to be in contact during those hours.
