    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Nice to see Señor Hairplugs riding for Quintana there.

J-Rod went too early. Good stuff from Froome and Bert.

Valverde wins in a great ride shocker. Froome and Contador. J-Rod, Quintana distanced.

    BOOOOOOM

Enjoyed that. Valverde dishing out the pain big time then takes the win, Congratulations.

Froome and Contador looking good. JRod looking not bad either.

My boy Chaves right up there and Aru not far back.

    Quintana distanced slightly.

Nice to see lots of evenly matched top riders.

Can we now officially call shenanigans on the idea that Contador had a broken leg in any way?

Yep. They tried to pull a Nibali, with none of the master's subtlety. Busted.

Just back from Espana today - Passed a Saxo-Tinkoff truck on the way to airport - That was a pretty good stage.

Even though the Vuelta wasn't far away from where I was, I can report the only Vuelta related thing I saw other than truck was the logo on a tin of green olives.

There are leg breaks and there are leg breaks but yes, I think we can.

Other than Valverde and JRod I don't think Quintana, Froome and Contador went 100% deep.

Showing his pure natural talent so far. Clever guy, placed himself well at the start, did not react when JRod went then rode the wheels well and finished just fine. Pretty much every other rider you can name would be in bed. Certified and undisputed greatest stage race rider of his generation.

Doesn't your squad include 5 of the top 7? And I'm sure you look favourably on Rodriguez and Froome on occasions.

Was in a meeting so couldn't give it my full attention, so thanks for the re-cap here.

It was a pretty exciting finish from what i could see though. I'll have to watch the highlights later.

I also don't believe that was Quintana's best effort, btw. Or if it was, that he's not planning on being much better next week.

He's better on the longer stuff, isn't he. I can't remember him being that good on the the short steep climbs.

It was obvious quite a few of the guys didn't know when to go on the climb. But some of them look like they've got another few percent go to to be at their best.

Also think Bert's injury wasn't that bad.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
  • They never really elaborated on his injury further than a "leg break" though did they?
in fairness that could me he chipped the end off his fibula in which case he would be going full bore in a couple of weeks once the muscular swelling component died down.
If he had broken his tibia in two however (probably what most people imagine when they hear leg break) there is not a mission he would have been doing that, not even a certified heavyweight could manage it.
