That's no good. It clashes with Doctor Who.

Excellent scheduling, should finish just before Dr Who starts.

    Er....
Alan's right. I hadn't looked at the schedules. Assumed it was on at 7pm (UK time).

It's on later this year due to 'darker storylines'. Exciting.

    La Vuelta or Doctor Who?

It's The Doctor's language they're worried about: "Daleks wrecked ma tardis. Farquhars." etc.

e: Cheers, FF. I'm normally swallowed by the Proms after the Tour. But this is an unmissable line-up: The Kids from Giro against all these GT winners, and J-Rod - wonder if he had words with Nibali about preparing smart? You'll be needing anairo sign in 3 weeks.

The avi is from local Tokyo park (not my image). Japan is ablaze in Autumn.

That's good news for the favourites.

I get the impression people are complaining about the roundabouts. I think that is a bit harsh. You'd all be really complaining if the Vuelta started with a short motorway TTT.
  • We are off.
Dan Martin must be a bag of nerves. Very, very difficult course, plus wind.
    Another TTT GC lottery.

Giant Shimano should do better than they will do with this TTT. Sprint lead outs are perfect for this course but they'll disappoint.

Well it rained like the world was ending on my ride today but I kept it upright on the roundabouts until I literally couldn't see and two kind souls Jan and Marieke let me and 5 other random cyclists shelter in their kitchen. Anyway looks like a lovely evening in Sherry Country.

Is Dan Craven the early contender for Beard of the Vuelta?

Giant Shimano is not the same without CHENG. If Cheng was here he'd have finished this TTT already, alone, dragging all nine of those lady matadors with him.

The roads down here turn into ice rinks if wet so thank the gods it's dry.

I really like Dan Lloyd. Pity I've already had to mute Carlton.

Doesn't the constant braking for corners and roundybouts neutralize much of the power and technique advantage of top TTT squads?

Can we review the TTT rules please?

5th man across the line is the time that counts.

They have to have ? riders finishing

Yep. Rewards sprintery types but as said, Giant will under-perform. Dan Lloyd is good.

    Five.

Edit - well all have to finish but you need a minimum of 5 to finish together otherwise they'll just take the time at the fifth rider home who could be down the road.

    Thanks.

What are the other rules? (there must be more than two)

I'd like to know the specifics of the Dan Craven/Europcar deal - is it just his personal sponsors that pay his way?

Is this the shortest TTT ever?

    15 minutes?

Maybe Europcar wants to boost its profile in Namibia? I have no idea how well known Dan Craven is in Namibia or whether you can hire a car from Europcar in Namibia.*

*I'm cheesed off with Europcar, they claim that they have no knowledge of the prescription sunglasses I left in one of their hire cars. I just hope whoever tea-leafed them is enjoying wearing a pair of wayfarers that are given said person a headache and funny vision.

Not sure what Pro Tour contracts require but I believe Dan bought his place through sponsors - as Androni riders mostly do

Losing 30+ sec after 6km is incredibly poor.

How wonderfully old fashioned, like buying a commission.

Anyway OGE are not looking as TTT tip-top as they have in the past.

Kirby has already chuckled about rain, Spain and plains and made a couple of 'jokes' about victory tasting sweet in Herezzz (wherever that is).

It could be a long three weeks.

Yes, as I wrote that and then they came in and went fastest, they looked ragged though, but that just goes to prove that looks aren't everything.
