    Why not "tock tick"? Or "flopflip"??

    I think that in all these sorts of couplets the syllable with the "i" sound comes before the one with the "o" sound. Same in phrases such as "wishy-washy" or "tip-top".

    Virtual prize if anyone can come up with a counter example. I might give them a Platonic Kitkat.

    Yes I know no-one actually uses it.
    Perhaps they don't use it because it breaks the laws of nature.

    But despite that, you can have a platonic sheep for a prize, as I still haven't found a platonic Kitkat. There's never quite enough chocolate. And if there were, I'd want more wafer.
