Any deals for bike lights out there?

I'm getting close to that time of year where lights would be needed. I've NEVER commuted in the dark (well one ride home with cheapo lights when young) and only have the "be seen" lights from Cateye.
I ride along country A road which is reasonably safe road with lights along most but not all of it. I then get into a small city street which is one of the secondary roads into town (local traffic or those avoiding the M6 section). After that it is a side street and over a mixed use foot/cycle bridge over the river and along a quiet road leading to industrial estates and some housing/construction sites. This last bit can be made in a partly away from road mixed use path if needed but is mostly not lit.
I am borderline between needing the "be seen" and the "see by" light categories so not sure what to get. I need a really GOOD bargain as need to save my pennies hence the request here. I'm guessing I could use my existing lights as the backup and get a better, rechargeable set as main. Then in the future get some nice looking Knogg lights as a lighter and more compact backup. I think I'd like to spend less than £65 for the full set if I can get something suitable at that price. If not I guess I will spend more (and eat Tesco budget brand bread and baked beans for a ferw weeks to afford it - joking. It would mean cutting out the very few bottles of good beer I drink a week which is seriously dedicated sacrifice to commuting for me).
What would you recommend? Are there really good bargains out there that might suit me? Please feel free to post any bargains here too.

Buy one of these very bright very cheap.
Made need a bit of fettling to make fully waterproof. i.e. grease on the threads, a little sealant on the battery pack.

That is madness for that price. 13 quid?! The LED costs nearly that!
This is a little more refined though:

£13 .... :-0 you have to feel sorry for reputable light manufacturers these days, time was when £100 + was the starting point for serious commuting lights. I paid £50 for these 4 years ago. They broke the first time it rained, still I mended them and got my money's worth.
You may as well get two or three sets at this price.0 -
Personally I prefer torch lights as I don't like battery packs+wires.
You want to be seen and to see so you want different light brightness settings. I have an ultrafire 502b which is well bright enough to see on medium setting while being bright enough to be seen on low.
So I'd go something like http://www.candb-seen.co.uk/flashlightheadlamp/ultrafire-wf-501b-cree-xm-l.html
With 1or 2 batteries http://www.candb-seen.co.uk/accessories/flashlighttorch-batteries-.html
For the rear I have a Smart Lumar rear light, great brightness and great strobe effect http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/LISMRTR2/smart-lunar-r2-rear-led-bike-light0 -
i got a Moon Shield rear for £14 off ebay, bright as you like, with some crazy strobe mode that will find any undiagnosed epileptics. (also USB rechargable)
Front i have a cheap thing from Decathlon that is usb rechargable and pretty bright.
If im taking the scenic routes i have a couple of CREE lights from china that cost about £20 each 3 years ago.
also have a few other lights ive collected over teh years that get gaffer taped to my lid or on various bike areas (luggage rack, seat post, saddle, etc. all tend to get something depending on the weather and duration of the ride)¸.•´¸.•*´¨)

Linking this and Parryman's Moon Shield recommendation is this set of both for £85. I have the Moon Shield and it's a cracker.Location: ciderspace0
