For the people who went down the Farsport tub route, how did you fare on customs charges etc when they landed in the UK?

Also, be interested to understand how you got down to those build weights, as using the quoted weights for the various components I can't get anywhere near them.

On the original question, I've given up with tubeless as I keep blowing tyres off the rim. I use Stans Iron Cross rims and have tried Mud 2's, Rocket Rons etc always with the same result. They seem to be great for a while and then will randomly blow off the rim in a race and I DNF. I now run them with tubes for dry races and tubs for muddy courses.

    Cheers
No issues with customs for me, though I'd have been happy to pay the charges if they'd been levied.

Don't have a breakdown of the individual component weights, but you should be able to look the numbers up on the web. My build was:
    Novatec D711/D712 hubs
    Farsports tub rims (350g each)
24 spokes front, 28 rear (dictated by hub availability - 28 was a custom drilling)
DT Competition spokes on the higher tension side of each wheel, DT Revolution on the lower side
    DT Swiss Aluminium nipples

I haven't had tubeless tyres blow right off the rims, but I have had burps, which is why I've switched to tubs. Tubeless are great while you're learning (and for training) but once you're confident enough to start cornering hard they're not quite reliable enough.
    Pannier, 120rpm.

I got hit by HMRC for VAT - twenty something pounds. No biggie, and I included that in the £400 delivered I mentioned earlier.

Farsports list component weights on their website, so you can just pick it up from there. My experience was that they were 30 grams out in their quoted weight.

These are the wheels I bought last year:

if you only had one set of wheels and tyres... which tubs would you choose for all season performance?

My thinking exactly. If you break rims racing, most manufacturers will not give you full warranty anyway. The Farsports rims have thus far been stellar for me, and at £400 for a 1100g wheelset amazing bang for buck.

I have built 1.1 Kg sets... I find it a bit hard to believe you can get there with Farsports rims and 400 quid and have something rideable... but hey oh, live and learn...

You'll find out on the 28th Paolo when he kicks your arse ;) (unless you're doing the 3 peaks Dave?)
