Much more entertaining podium placings than having to watch Froome and Nibs within a minute of each other with Contador lagging 4 minutes behind.

Well Ten Dam is 8th. Pretty bloody impressive. Likely is not paid that much cash.

As fast as Piepoli and Cobo who were CERA'd up to the max and he did the last 9km solo. But then the others were only 1min slower which isn't super crazy.

apropos nothing at all, the gap between Nibali and Pinot at Vuelta 2013 was 7 mins 3 secs.

Just incase anyone suggests the gap between the first two riders is unusually large.

No TT yet. That said, Pinot has never had as much to ride for in a TT. Interesting to see if the situation brings out something unusually good relative to Péraud and Membrane.

    No cobbles stage, either.

As I said, I wouldn't try and prove anything with those numbers other than to suggest that Nibali taking Pinot for 7+ minutes over three weeks isn't unheard of.

    Valv - Pinot 9 - 3
    Valv - Peraud 4 - 6
    Peraud - Pinot 9 - 14

Re: the TT, Pinot does a decent tester of a hilly course but I think the profile for Saturday is a little deceptive. Longer than anything he's performed well on too.

By comparing Nibali's time with hand picked times from the past and selecting supporting variables we can conclusively prove that our preconceptions were about Nibali were right.

That pretty much covers the debate from both sides.

@irishpeloton: Vincenzo Nibali will be the 1st Tour winner to win 4 road stages since Eddy Merckx in 1974 (barring accident).

Just dipped a toe in the Nibali thread. Spent 30secs not knowing whether to laugh or cry, then left, locking the door behind me...

Yep. Cobbles were a worth a good whack.

It's regrettable that the spasmodically objective Ross Tucker lends his credibility to cretins with stopwatches.

If Nibali wins he joins the triple crown elite. And it is very elite - there exist only 5. Those that have won the three GTs. Contador has won all three twice over but Nibali is still young.

Contador has only won one Giro.
