Mudguards ditched this winter here, they only slow me down.

Have you ditched water bottles as well?

Thanks Ugo. I does look so much better without them but hoping to stay as dry as I can this winter.

Get a car then... the very essence of cycling in the rain is that of getting wet... mudguards are as useful as an umbrella in a storm...

Remind me not to follow you on a winter club run

Another myth... guards spray too, just at a shallower angle, forcing you to keep closer to the guy in front... spray is a good thing, keep idiots out of your rear wheel when it's wet and dangerous

I have an original Croix de Fer in all white, while the scheme is a tad boring it does it's job well. Would love to be able to get hold of one of those carbon forks though, as I feel the only thing that lets it down is the springiness of the forks under braking.

Genesis will be releasing carbon forks for the pre-2015 CDFs so that they won't mess up with geometry of the bike. They said these should be available at dealers to preorder now and expect them ready for beginning of December.

What Jagwire cables are you running?

That sums up my thoughts, hence why I "upgraded" to the Fugio

Which is why the club I'm in gently encourage fitting a rear mudflap. This makes club runs a lot more bearable when the roads are wet. Without a mudflap, there's not much difference between following someone with or without mudguards.
  • nice looking bike BTW , Im building one v similar ..and am looking to fit guards ,,, what brand / product are the guards so i can make a purchase .. do they fit easily etc ?
