Voeckler in the break. Hotly tipped by Condé due to his demon descending. If Kwiatkowski tries to go away at any point, they'll try to reel the break in. Promising stuff.

When did Voeckler get tagged as a "demon descender"? I remember him ending up in someone's front garden in 2011...

I see Voeckler as in the same category as Nibali. They get down hill fast but not technically 'good' descenders. They just chuck the bike into the corners and hope it sticks. When it doesn't you end up in someone's back garden.

Oh, not this again about Nibali not being good technically. It's a laughable postulate. They chuck the bike into corners and go down hill fast because they know how to control a bike. That's all.

It's like the thing about Froome being a bad descender and a major weakness of his. I don't know where that came from. Because he isn't. At all.

Yeh obviously he's a good bike handler in an absolute sense. In my opinion people like Sagan, riders who use the minimum of effort to get as much speed as possible, are better descenders though.

I think there's little doubt that Sagan is a better descender.

Think that Nibali and Voeckler are pretty fearless as well as technically gifted. Cancellara, Paolini, Sagan, Gilbert and Evans are also of that school of descending. Cav and Eisel are very good as well.

    63 km.

Coals Des R is 3rd Category.

    Astana well grouped on Peleton.

    Cruising.

    Breakaway looks a strong group.

Eisel doing an awful lot of work on the front...he should really be making the other teams work their fair share as well.

Before the peloton get worried and start pulling, anyone seen any comment about what happened to Hollenstein at km 1? The photo on letour.fr looks like his bike steerer snapped just riding along!

(or that he was taken out by a tractor that came out of a field then reversed away)

He was caught by a Belkin car apparently and a bike fell off the roof, breaking his stem and then vanishing.

Was that before or after he bumped into Simon Gerrans?

    11.7 km climb average 7.7%.

Loo - Shon is twinned with Harrogate.

    Gap looks 12' 37".

    Shark. for Nebali.

    More Bales.

    Massive gap.

Someone needs to pull-off the Peleton
