"Lactate threshold has been a term used for many years across all sports and it is one of the most daily pronounced terms in the world of training by athletes and coaches worldwide. However, do we really know what lactate threshold is? Furthermore, do we know what lactate is and its role in performance and metabolism? The fact is that there is still too much confusion regarding what lactate is as well as what lactate threshold represents."
Above is opening paragraph from an excellent Training Peaks article concerning lactate and lactate threshold by Dr. Iñigo San Millán, University of Colorado.
He goes on to provide one of the best general readership descriptions of the topic I can remember reading and also presents some non-intuitive views on how to best train in order to improve lactate clearance.
Link below,worth checking out.

It confirms what I have found in my training the last 5 months. 3days on, 1 off , 1 hard session in the three, the other two strictly zone 2. In a recent test I absolutely bossed my all time 10 and 5 minute power PBs.Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching
