Surely, just 1 Pre-Race Evening Beer...?

Is just 1 (one!) beer with your meal the night before a race, sportive, etc, going to have any detrimental effects on your performance?

It's full of calories for carb loading and the effects of alcohol and subsequent dehydration are going to be tiny - surely!

(I cycle better when I'm pissed, anyway! :D )

    who has 1 beer?
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.

If the glass never quite reaches empty before being topped up, that's still just one beer, right??

Surely the mental effect of having one beer i.e morale boosting .... Offsets the minute negative physical effect? :)
Still thinking of something clever to say!

I've always found 3-4 pints the night before a race helps my performance. Might try cutting down even more one day see if that works even better.
