Have emailed Paul as the site and the audax site both state the event is full. Should hopefully get some clarity!

    Hi Chaps,

It is with mixed feelings that I must confirm that we've closed the entry for the this year' Ditchling Devil as the event is full. The good news is that there are some other great audax events coming up in the London area over the summer:

    Jul 6 - The Jack Eason Events (60, 100, 200km)
    Jul 20 - Suburban Breakout 100km
    Aug 2 - Straight Outta Hackney 200km
Aug 17 - Tour of the Hills, 120km
    Sept 7 - London Sightseer 100km

    See http://www.aukweb.net/events/ for details.

    All the best,

    Paul Stewart,
    Organiser, London Ditchling Devil

Seems to be the case. I thought it might be a sky ride that ran alongside, but without all the benefits of the full audax entry.

Yes, just going over the route and getting my stuff together. I'll be the tallish bloke on a bright green Kinesis, possibly in a black and white top with a black Kask lid with world champ stripes on the lid that may upset some.

I'll be in my Alzheimer's Society jersey with the Shand. Looking forward to it! (Early start  )

Awesome ride but quite tricky in that weather. Very warm indeed, I think I managed to get through over 5l of water. Good company all the way round and the organisation was superb. Hope you feel better Lee!

Tiredness reaches new levels! Feeling fine now though. I really wanted to puke at the end just to make the nausea go away. Not quite sure what caused it... food or what? I didn't bonk though :)

I don't think so, it was just hot and there were some bloody big hills to get up! Thanks to Steve for the guide across the park to get me closer to home- my brain was failing at that point. The oat bar from Lee's wife fuelled my trip home and was also rather tasty. I then also ate quite a lot of chinese when I got home!

Not hard by the standards of the serious types, hard for me though. Mrs had cooked so I had some food when I got in, she then went to the pub up the road to get me a pint of Pride. Can't ask for more than that.

Wife's pretty pleased with that  You'll have to show us some good Korean restaurants round your way.

Well that was hard work! Quite an eventful day as a chap who was riding behind me between lunch and tea hit my back wheel when a car pulled out of a blind driveway and came down hard on his arm/shoulder. He'd definitely broken something. We waited around for an ambulance for just under an hour and saw a few groups coming past.

I was going okay until about tea and if I was on the ropes then, Coombe Lane really knocked the stuffing out of me! Great event though. Good food, very friendly people and a fun day out. I was seriously low on fuel when I got home. Drunk 2 cokes, 4 pints of water and ate three ice creams just to get back to vaguely normal. Actually feel remarkably fine today. Still hungry!

Well done for waiting Shandy, that's a very long time to wait. Didn't see anyone waiting at the side of the road so you must have been a long way ahead of us.
I was completely done for by Combe Lane, that was a struggle.

This sounds exactly like an account on the my clubs website. The guy, George (top bloke), broke his collarbone unfortunatley, if its the same incident.

That's him. It was his birthday too, poor chap. Not a great way to spend it.

To be fair it was the middle of the countryside so it took a while for medical attention to turn up. Once he was getting attented to and we'd left our details with police and George, we went on our way.

SB, let me know if you hear anything about his condition, will you?

Quick update - George got diagnosed with a broken clavicle. Otherwise in good spirits.
