Great job by Eurosport cutting off the poor commentators mid sentence again. Shocking coverage as usual.

I can't say I blame them for holding back, if you don't need the time for the GC and you are no-where near in contention for the stage win it isn't worth risking an injury, especially if you're an essential domestique (Didn't see who the riders were so apologies if they aren't)
I know Audentes fortuna iuvat and all that but in this instance with everyone crashing about all over the place it isn't worth it.

that said with the commissars dishing out fines for eating a non regulation size banana this year I doubt they will look fondly upon this TTT!

No mountain points for Arredondo by the looks of it.

Give us some time checks please Giro/Eurosport/people.

So, Bouhanni does 35kmh average compared to De Gendt's 42kmh. Anyone reckon they could do better than Bouhanni?

Considering it's hilly, and De Gendt did last year's Tour de France flat timetrial at 53 km/h as benchmark, no...

Is Bouhanni trying to get eliminated so that he won't have to actually ride the mountains and thus pay respects as the red jersey wearer?
    Correlation is not causation.

Would be more logical to do that in the Oropa stage on Saturday; tomorrow he has a reasonable opportunity for another win

Not over that distance in those conditions. Haen't seen the parcours, is it lumpy?

Haven't seen any time checks for Castroviejo, shouldn't he be finishing shortly?

Yes lumpy a 370m gain drag at the start and a steeper 120m ramp at the end. I wouldn't fancy it.

Ludvigsson down - he would have been a top 5 candidate today

Where was the crash and what happened?
  • Hope he's ok as it was a quality 'off'.

I think even a non TT'er would still kick most club level riders backsides in a TT. If it was flat and dry then it's not a great time but that sounds a bit bumpier than your average TT. Conditions don't look nice either

Where was the crash and what happened?

Round a corner on one of the descents, carried too much speed on wet roads and went straight over the barrier and down the hill. Looked like he fell/rolled quite a long way.

Castroviejo not taking this too seriously ; -). TT sppecialist finishing 6 minutes down
EBH 1 and a half minutes down on De Gendt - don't think he'll be in the top 10

It was a bit like Kennaugh's tour crash on steroids...

Still no ambulance though, the Giro is not the place for an off as you're pretty much left for dead.

Renowned TTist Johnny Oldcastle, 6 minutes down.
Not the Movistar performance we expect these days.

Think you have missed the point. He could be on for 5 stage wins - Kittel out , Viviani is sick he's had a rest day

Can't see when he gets a contract they will say yeah maybe you got 3/4/5 stage wins in one Giro but you were a bit tardy on that lumpy tt

That wasn't my point at all, I was being facetious. Bouhanni's actually gone rather faster than he needed to in the circumstances.
